Signs for the CHLer
There seems to be quite a bit of confusion around the signs.
YES YOU CAN CARRY - This is a "Gunbusters" sign...ignore it.
NO YOU CANNOT CARRY This is a .30-06 Sign. Don't ignore it.
YES YOU CAN CARRY - This is a TABC sign. Just read the text...The Unlicensed Possession.... Heck, even Wal-Mart has these signs.
NO YOU CANNOT CARRY - TABC 51% Sign. Don't ignore it.
YES YOU CAN CARRY - Old, incorrect verbiage (4413).
YES YOU CAN CARRY - Old PC (30.05)
**New**
NO YOU CANNOT CARRY - This is a .30-07 sign. Don't ignore it.

Re: Signs for the CHLer
This is a good idea. I'm moving it to "New to CHL" and making it a sticky.

So that's what a 51% sign looks like.
First one I have seen.

Re: Signs for the CHLer
What size are those letters? JK. I remember when this board first started we would all say "such and such a place is posted" and then stevie or someone would have them go buy and take a picture with a ruler to see if it was a "compliant" sign.pbwalker wrote:

Re: Signs for the CHLer
PB, You might want to add a pic of the old sign that was replaced by 30.06. That way newbies can compare and contrast them.

They do; however, even Tom Estep didn't have pictures of the signs when I took the class.bdickens wrote:I thought they covered all this in the class.

True, and you saved me from typing that.LarryH wrote:They do; however, even Tom Estep didn't have pictures of the signs when I took the class.
However, he did verbally go over the wording in the law, so when I walked out of the class, I knew exactly what a 30.06 sign would look like.
As far as the TABC signs (red or blue) those were very self explanatory, but he talked on those as well.
I felt and still feel today, that when I walked out of Tom's class, I had a good understanding of the signs and what to look for prior to entering any public place.

Good points, Teamless.
However, I think we have seen, here on the forum, that many people are visual learners and really NEED to see a picture of the signs for the concept to sink in.

Re: Signs for the CHLer
It's one thing to describe what a sign should look like...to keep people out of trouble. But it's quite another to able to actually see what the signs looks like.LarryH wrote:Good points, Teamless.
