First Time for CHL

#1

Post by JoshFromHouston »

Ok so this is my first post and it looks like there is alot of good information here. I picked up a Sig p239 today and have a couple of questions about getting my CHL. What do I do first? Take the class or get the paperwork from somewhere or what? Second, where in Houston is a good place to take the class that has friendly instructors and will help out with the paperwork and what not?

Thanks in advance,

Josh

You can do either. You can fill out the packet online or at the class.

Welcome aboard Josh. That will make you one fine carry. It is on my list of guns I would like to own but cannot justify have it w/ others I am not willing to part with.

Do the paperwork at the class. A good portion of the class is dedicated to filling out the paperwork properly and if one thing is wrong, it get's kicked to the back of the line and you then have to wait another three months.

Josh - Welcome
There is an Instructors, Classes and Training section in this forum that has contact information. Two instructors that I can personally recommend are Tom Estep (ElGato) and Charles Cotton. Your choice may depend on your location - Tom teaches in Texas City and Charles in Friendswood.

P.S. I have the P239 also - Good choice!

Josh, let us know how the class goes.
