Shot my first IDPA match last wednesday

Oh man where to begin. I shot my first IDPA match with the Dallas Action Pistol Shooters at Elm Fork Shooting Range in Dallas. This is the nicest, most professional group of people I've ever had the privilege of shooting with. They were very intent on everyone adhering to the safety rules and regulations. They were firm yet relaxed in their approach to newcomers to the match and made sure that having a good time while training was the main objective. The stages were pretty good and the fellowship was amazing. I like the variety of shooters they had and i didn't do too bad finishing 17 out of 23. The price to shoot the match was only $3 for the first time and a $12 range fee which is still cheaper than just paying full range fee at this particular range. Overall a great experience and can't wait to do it again. I recommend this group to anyone looking to shoot either IDPA or USPSA matches :cheers2: :fire

Pretty fun isn't it? I just did my first match last month and am going to do my second this coming weekend. It gives you a better idea of how you will perform in a real life situation than regular target practice will. It also makes you think about strategy.

I've been wanting to do IDPA. I was thinking of going to one here in Houston just to watch at first. I may just need to jump in and learn as I go.

Right, but it's better than the regular paper punching that we normally do at a public range.

Got a match coming up this weekend at Terrell Rifle & Pistol Club and another one closer to home at the Dallas Pistol Club the following week. I think the DPC match is also open to the public, so I might go over there and check that one out.
