My Small Group

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

My Small Group

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

I started working with our youth group (Jr. & Sr. High School age) several months ago and I love it. It was like going through a 12 step program for me to start wearing jeans and tennis shoes to Church, but these kids are worth it.

Our small groups started this last Wednesday and I need your prayers. I am a co-leader of the group and this is the first time I've done one for a youth group. I've taught a lot of men's Sunday School classes, but that's for guys my age and older, most of whom are very knowledgeable about the Bible. Now I'm working with kids that are either brand new Christians, or are very early in their walk with Christ. This is an entirely new area for me and I need the Father's help. I now have a better appreciation for Soloman's prayer for discernment, rather than wealth and longevity.

Please pray that the Lord will grant me the wisdom and discernment to work effectively with these kids. Pray also that He will help me be a role model for these who care enough about growing closer to Christ to commit every Wednesday for the 36 weeks to learning the Scriptures and, more importantly, learning to put them into practice in their daily lives.

Your servant, Charles, has remembered Soloman's prayer before you, Lord.
Grant him a double portion of the wisdom he requests.

Thank the Lord for men and women that will work with our young
people. you were wise to ask for wisdom. Teaching and leading
some of the youth today will require more wisdom to reach them
than your adult Sunday school class.

I have worked with the Kids in our church for 30 yrs. and I can tell
you there is no greater joy to see kids come to know the Lord, to
see them grow up and bring their own children to church.
May God bless you in your work.

You've got it Charles!

I believe that working with youth can be the most rewarding work that you can do within the church. That reward also comes with heartache and patience that you didn't know that you had in you.

God Bless you Charles!!

Prayers are with you Charles. That is a big task to take on.

Working with kids that age can potentially cause you to go into a state of mental disability, and that could cause you to become CHL ineligible!!

Seriously, as the father of a 14 year old, with great respect I commend your actions and fortitude! These kids need good Christian role models to help them through their volatile years.

God bless!!

It's great to see other people that are serving our Lord (it's also great to see other Christians who enjoy firearms). I will pray for you and the youth.
