Wish they'd check their mail...
Sent my packet in Tuesday afternoon. Web status still says "Packet mailed to applicant". Wish I'd sent it with a tracking option so I'd know when it got there. Doesn't matter on how fast it gets done, but at least I'd know it wasn't lost in the postal system.
It's only day three for me, and I'm already anxious. Hope it doesn't turn into 60+ like some of you. I've felt naked every day for the past 12 years since getting out of the law enforcement profession and not being able to legally tote. It's going to be great to feel safe again!
05/05/07 - CHL Class and Range Qualification Completed
05/08/07 - Application packet mailed to DPS
05/10/07 - Hoping to get plastic in the mail today, also living in the world of make-believe. Helps the time pass.
05/11/07 - Status still hasn't changed from "Packet mailed to applicant" on the site. Must be in a pile of unopened apps on someone's desk...
05/14/07 - Couldn't stand it any more and sent them an email. Got a same-day reply that my packet has been recieved and is in pre-screening, expect an update on the site soon! YIPEE! Only another 50 or so days to go!
05/16/07 - Still no change on the web tracking site...arg! How long does prescreening take!?
05/17/07 - I was beginning to worry that I'd left something out of my packet, but status changed to processing today, so it's finally cleared prescreening.
05/31/07 - Just checked status on line for the gazillionth time and saw "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active".
06/04/07 - Guess what I just found in my mailbox? Yep, I'm out of the Waiting Room and prepping for da Wally-Walk.

Who was the last Austin person to get theirs? I got mine just over a week ago, it was 59 days for me. It seems there's a lot of new Austin folks on here lately. We all need to get together.ubernoob wrote:kryten: The last member to get their CHL in austin took 54 days mailbox to mailbox. I sent mine in 4/10 and mine is still "Processing".
tfrazier: Judging by the past few to get their CHL in the Dallas area, you will have your CHL before both kryten and me.

Reason for Austin Apps Taking So Long:
DPS headquarters is there. They run you guys through extra checks since you live among the DPS brass!

Re: Austin Resident Wait Time
I was joking...I should have made it more obvious. Wasn't very funny anyway, which is why I don't do stand-up for a living!ubernoob wrote:I think the delay is due to the local background checks done by the local PD. It's not the CHL department.
