October Applications
Mine was a renewal, but feel free to chime in if this is your first time (and if it is your first, in all likelihood...welcome to the forum. )
First Renewal.
Did online application/paid by credit card 10/2
Emailed DPS the confirmation with barcode 10/3.
And now we wait.

Guess this fits in October. Renewed Sept 30 about 9pm. Emailed barcode 2 min later. All I'm waiting on is the background check. Been waiting on it 5 days. Going pretty fast but would love to see MAILED

3/10/09 Packet Mailed
4/22/09 Proccesing App
6/09/09 Approved
6/13/09 Plastic in hand

Re: October Applications
Yeah, I put in my initial application 9/25, printed 9/27, electronically submitted the other stuff 9/30.
I've been checking the website 3-4 times a day.

Mine has been "Waiting for receipt of required materials" since I submitted. Changed today to "background check under review".

Re: October Applications
Took the CHL class 9/25/2013
Applied online 9/27/2013
Fingerprints done 10/2/2013
Sent in the required documents via e-mail 10/2/2013
It's been a week and now I have been waiting for my status to change from waiting on required materials. I figured I would have at least got a conformation e-mail saying that I did submit the application but I have nothing. I can only hope they received the required materials, I don't mind the wait as long as I get some sort of update that it was submitted.

Re: October Applications
Update time.
First Renewal.
Did online application/paid by credit card 10/2
Emailed DPS the confirmation with barcode 10/3.
Materials received 10/9
Background check and fingerprints done 10/11
Manufacturing pending.
I had to go back and check...I originally took the class in Feb 2009, and received my plastic 102 days later on June 1st.
Looks like I am on track to get the renewal done in less than a month this time, and without a class to boot. Things are certainly improving around here.

Re: October Applications
Checked status on a saturday, because I'm odd like that.
10/12: License mailed.
What a difference between my initial class and my renewal! Very impressed.

Re: October Applications
Just did my initial application (at the age of 66) 10/15
Class scheduled 10/19
Fingerprints scheduled 10/22
Got a surprise. The charge for veterans is now $25
Update:
Had to reschedule the range for 26 October due to rain.
10/26 Tried to upload documents,
I still get server errors trying to upload documents.
10/28
Still no reply on status of uploading server.
Spent 30 minutes on phone hold.
Took documents to Post Office and mailed them.
Postal clerk said they can guarantee delivery tomorrow for $14 extra.
Reminded him it's only 25 miles from Cedar Park to Austin.
Sent them Priority with Tracking and Signature Required.
Now the wait begins.
Update 10/29
Documents received and signed for.
I'm glad I didn't pay $14 extra to get them there today.

Completed class and fingerprinting. Mailed paperwork October 15. Now we wait.
Re: October Applications
RE-Submitted NEW Application documents on October 1st using online form: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
To date (10/16) no change in application status via online
I say resubmitted because I called on the 1st of October to simply ask if the Documents were successfully transmitted using online form; first person who answered the phone stated they did receive it on September 17, but for some reason, no movement on my application has occurred. He then transferred me to a person who is suppose to be the one to process the documents, she stated that no documents were received and to resubmit the documents, so I resubmitted them on October 1st.
I'm trying my best to not be so eager and have trust in the system and wait the 30 days like the recorded message says when you call them. Hoping for the best and patiently waiting, I do still check the site everyday though :(
On November 1st comes and no change in my application status has occurred, I'll call again and ask if it is okay for me to send my application and documents via the old fashion USPS mail. If we're sending via mail, is it better to send using a signature required service or just first class mail is sufficient?
Good luck to everyone!

Re: October Applications
Didn't check the mail yesterday, so either yesterday or today it made it to my mailbox.
And with that I'm out until 2018.

Re: October Applications
Submitted renewal 10/6 online/ As of today (10/16) still says "awaiting required documents." I believe I have read that some had that status until it said "mailed." Can't recall though.
