Well, I guess I'll add my status changes and dates. I did everything in advance that I could have in order to have a quicker turnaround but it appears it hasn't helped.

1/21/13 Fingerprints Submitted
2/2/13 CHL Class
2/5/13 Packet Mailed via Certified Mail
2/7/13 Packet confirmed received by DPS via return receipt
3/1/13 Status Change to "A Packet has been received......" with the following status below
Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

4/5/13 No change in status since 3/1

Sunday, April 7th is 60 days from the date of receipt. Needless to say its frustrating to see others who have turned in their items a week to 10 days later that already have plastic in their hands.

Well, yesterday, on day 61 I placed a call into DPS to see what the hold up was. They said "give it some more time" and sure enough I checked this morning and status has been updated to:

Background Check : Completed
Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending

I dont know if it was the call that made the difference or just a coincidence, but glad to see some action after having my background check completed after 40 days.
