I'm surprised that my wait has been short. Little over a month and I'm on the final step (Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending).

I think staying out of trouble made this process quick. May also helped that the FBI investigated my background when I was getting my clearance when I served in the Air Force.

Jan. 20-28, 2013 (I was on a cruise when this occurred & don't know the exact date)

Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Proof of Special Condition : Received
Fee : Received

Feb. 1, 2013
Background Check : Completed
Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending

I think the state of Texas is doing a great job of keeping up with everything considering how many additional applications they are being asked to process. Applied 12/18 and received CHL in mail on 1/31

Completed all DPS requirements and submitted all paper work and completed FAST and sent to the DPS on January 22, 2013.
Checking the DPS web site daily to view progress. Nothing yet!

It's going quick for me. I just checked and now it shows Concealed Handgun License : Mailed
If I get it tomorrow it would have taken less than 40 days for the whole process

Got my plastic today. 38 days mailbox to mailbox.
