To the Waiting Room,

Online App - 11/28/2011
Fingerprints @ L1 - 11/30/2011
CHL Class - 1/7/2012
Mailed Paper Work Overnight Delivery - 1/9/2012
Signature confirmation in Austin by USPS - 1/10/2012
Application update on webpage with received paperwork - 1/13/2012

Current Status:
Finger Prints Under Review starting - 1/13/2012
Background Check Under Review starting - 1/13/2012

Now the real wait begins. I have a complicated background but nothing that should disqualify me. I sent in all my court paperwork to help the process along and I even sent in my NICS successful appeal documentation from the FBI proving I can own and purchase firearms. So hopefully it won't take over 60 days but I am mentally preparing myself for the full 60 days or possibly longer. As they say... Only time will tell.

Great forum BTW. Glad there is something to read and get excited about on all the forums on this site.

A big thank you to everyone who has posted their waiting stories!

For me, the "real wait" was the last few days waiting at the mailbox.
The mailman must have thought I was stalking him.

Good luck! :tiphat:

Just to confirm.

Are the DPS status updates done in batch processing? Meaning, it's a waste of time to check the site multiple times a day. It should only be checked once a day since the updates occur during the early morning hours of each business day?

It's also safe to say updates are done only on Monday - Friday which means the website won't show updates until Tuesday - Saturday.

Am I assuming correctly?

I do not know if they are batch updates or not, however, I have seen the status change between Sunday night and Monday morning. Sometime between 10PM and 8:30AM. I have seen "intra" day updates as well. My guess is that "Batch" processing is probably overly sophisticated for this kind of thing and the volume of transactions they are processing. My guess? Each application record has the various stages assigned to it (as well as a select set of "exception codes"), once a certain aspect of an app is complete, a real time application is probably used to change the status flags. Fire up application #12345, and then start checking boxes :)
