Would you have been willing to pay more for faster service?

As my wait is about to end I was thinking if the state gave you-the option for quicker service would most people pay.
I think in my case I would have easily have given an extra 40.00 to speed my wait up.
From reading I know a lot of us pay extra to have delivery confirmation on our paper work.

How much would you have paid for quick service?

Sounds more like a bribe to me. "here's a little extra to put me ahead of the people who can already barely afford the cost of exercising their God given rights."

Doesn't sound right to me.

No, I would not pay more. On the other hand, I would like to see the employees that process the applications pay, based on meeting the states mandated 60 day time limit. I would also like to see the time limit reduced to less than 30.

+1 here. Given how much of our information is available to the state, give them 30 days unless there's an unresolved issue (like a prior arrest or something). But how many of us have already had a 'background check' for our jobs or something like that? I have. Had a full up FBI check. Fingerprints, the whole works. Wife went through b/g checks, finger prints, etc. for access to TDC units for some volunteer work she does. So I fail to see why you can get a D/L while you stand there, but to exercise a "right" takes two months to get a "permit" so we can exercise it. Even AFTER going through other background checks.

I think that it's ridiculous that you have to wait up to six weeks just to receive a regular drivers license in Texas. When I lived in Missouri, you walked out with it in your hand.

My theory is...If you want it sooner, you should have applied sooner.

I know that sounds mean and that's not my intention.
I'm just saying that there is an expected wait time and we should understand that there is a process.

I know how difficult it can be to wait. My CHL (as well as many others at the time) took over three months to process and I probably would've paid a little more to have that knocked down. However, when all is said and done, and you have that little piece of plastic in your hand, all your waiting worries melt away.

From what I've seen lately I think DPS is doing a good job with CHL processing.

I wouldn't pay more (that's just me, I'M CHEAP and easy for any ladies on the board ;-) ).

I'm guessing those in the "waiting room" would generally say "yes, I'd pay to have the plastic right now" but those that have plastic in hand would lean to "it wasn't so bad, when looked at in the grand scheme of life"

just my 2 cents

Well, they didn't have this newfangled online filing when I got mine, but I put extra stamps on so the mailman would walk faster

I thought about putting a twenty dollar bill in my packet as an incentive but chickened out at the last minute. ;-)

You would more than likely would be charged with bribing a public official and never be able to get a CHL. :cryin

And even if they did charge you, I bet they wouldn't give you your $20 back either.................

At the time, it seemed like it took forever and I was most anxious. In retrospect, My CHL is now some three years old and I haven't had to shoot anybody yet. So, what was the rush?

Nah, I paid plenty to start with. In fact, we Texans pay a lot more for our CHL than many other state residents pay for their respective CC licenses. :grumble :grumble

And if the state paper pushers had the option, they'd push EVERYONE (other than those who paid the 'expedited fee') to the back of the pile. So the only way you could get the CHL would be to pay the upper. And that would then become the new defacto cost for a CHL. They'd just delay the 'regular' folks forever, and claim justification because "these people paid to be put at the front of the line, so theirs get priority" and all the others would just gather cobwebs in an abandoned warehouse somewhere.

I haven't needed my seat belt in years, but I still hurry to put it on before I get out of the driveway.

One for work, one for C&RFFL, one for ARES/RACES, and one for CHL. I'm just glad it's not like credit reports, where too many inquiries shows up as a negative, especially since my work one was redone in November, my FFL one is in progress, and my CHL renewal is due by June.
