My wife beat me to it!

#1

Post by thelurker »

Well, we both took the class on 9/20 and Austin received the paperwork for both of us on 9/26. My wife got her license in the mail this past Friday the 7th!!! That's only 43 DAYS!!!! She didn't have to wait 3 months...not even two....just a crappy 6 weeks! Now I am of course very very happy for her, but I'm a little jealous considering most everything she knows about firearms came from me, and I'm still waiting. Fortunately she hasn't been rubbing it in my face...what a woman!

I'm wondering if this may be a record of sorts...

wow...glad to hear they may have gotten thru the backlog and got things moving at a good pace again. I just mailed mine off today and wasn't sure what kind of wait to expect. Hopefully yours will be in the mail tomorrow!

DPS received my wife's application on 7/9 she received her plastic on 9/9. They received my application on 7/28, I am still waiting. I finally sent an inquiry on 10/31 and received a response within the hour, which I thought was a good sign. Here is what they said
Any application with possible disqualifiers (i.e. criminal history, delinquent taxes, etc) is forwarded to a technician for further review. After reviewing your file; based on the information you submitted and the information received during the background check, everything seems to be ok and I will be clearing your file for issuance within the next week. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery.
It kind of gave me the feeling my application has been sitting in a stack on someone desk. Today is the 11th and my status still says processing, hopefully by the end of the week I will be good to go.

and why the grief??? I'm not complaining about the wait..I just turned mine in...in fact, DPS just recieved my packet today. I'm sure we don't have a backlog like Harris County...and that's fine...you couldn't pay me enough to live in Harris County. the question was asked to put what county we're in...and I did. I'll gladly sit tight and wait mine out...I feel for those who have waited....and waited...and waited... :waiting: for something they shouldn't have to wait for to begin with!

I just received my Utah license yesterday...so maybe my TX plastic will be coming soon. Let me jut say how weird it was to be the protector of the family and have my wife carry while I sit there unarmed! :cryin

BTW...I'm in Tarrant County.
