New here, have a question

hello all, had a question about my application status.

I filled out my CHL application online, and paid online with CC as well. Maybe a week later I received my packet, which had a white paper with all of my information on it, including a PIN.

Took the class 6/14, mailed 6/16 certified, it said "accepted" on usps website on 6/19.

I checked my status today at the texas dps website, and when i fill out my info and pin, and press submit, it says "The data you have submitted indicates you may not be eligible for this service. Please verify the data submitted is correct. If you still cannot proceed, please contact DPS at 1-800-224-5744 or email chl@txdps.state.tx.us for more information."

What gives? I assumed because I had my pin already I'd be able to track my status. Is there a problem, or is there a waiting period for my pin to be active?

When you clicked on Track the Status of your Application ---

Did you click onto Concealed Handgun Instructor Certificate or to Concealed Handgun License? You should click onto the track status under the Concealed Handgun License and not the Instructor. This is typically what happens...

I clicked on CHL, not the instructor link.

First, Welcome to the Waiting Room, get comfy. I think (but Im not sure because I dont have a PIN yet) and from what I've seen on a couple of other postings, the PIN in the packet isnt the same PIN for checking the status of your app.. You may want to call or E-Mail the fine DPS People and find out the scoop. Maybe they have to "Activate" that too. Hopefully it doesnt take 90- 120 days for that too..........Good Luck and let us know what you find out. A little advice, call on Monday, Simone is off on Mondays.... :thumbs2:

on the top of the login page (before filling/submitting), it says "Your application status will be available online while your application is being processed by DPS. You may contact DPS at 1-800-224-5744 for more information."

so does that mean that even though I got my pin early because I paid online, because i just mailed it in last week, it won't be trackable until they open the package and process it?

has no one else Applied and Paid online?

edit: is Simone someone who is nice @ DPS?

I have seen that message when I have incorrectly entered my information into the form.

Make sure all of the information you entered is correct. Your status will probably indicate "packet sent to recipient" for quite a while to come. It won't change to "processing" until they enter everything into the system.

Welcome to the forum.

When I enter my correct information, it says "The data you have submitted indicates you may not be eligible for this service."
When I change one number in my social security to purposely see what error i get, it says "The data you have submitted does not match what is in our records."

And when I submit my correct information BUT put in a bogus PIN, it still says ""The data you have submitted indicates you may not be eligible for this service."

That is not true. One of the advantages of doing the online route is that you get your pin immediately, and that pin will allow you to check your status. I know, because I did the online route and use my pin to check my status.

i called DPS today and talked to a representative. i told her my information and she too saw the "not elgible" message, but from everything she had, she said she sees no reason why it says not elgible, she kept telling me it takes 3 months, but i kept telling her i knew that and how that wasnt the issue. the issue was that it didnt even say "application sent" or anything.
