My wife and I took our tests at the end of June, and sent in our paperwork immediately after the 4th of July holiday. As of two weeks ago, I was told (by a VERY helpful CHL employee) that "two of my security checks had been completed, and they expected the third to be completed within two weeks. On Friday, my status was unchanged - the ever (un)popular "Processing Application." I don't know what made me check the CHL site today, but I'm glad I did. Today's message is "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active." So now my countdown begins on the wait to actually receive my shinny new piece of plastic.
I've got my conceal holster. I've got my 1911. I've got my weekly range time in. Now all I need is my CHL. (Insert sounds of fingers drumming and toe tapping impatiently here.)

Success!
Our CHLs came in today. FINALLY! Total wait time: 82 days. Arrrgggh. But at least I'm now 'street legal.'
To all those who are still waiting: don't despair. Sooner or later, you'll get it.
