Well I called DPS yesterday about my application. I spoke to a nice young women who said she had to transfer me to the supervisor or technician in charge of my application. Before she could I was able to ask about my background checks. She said they are complete and back and with the technician. I left a voice mail with the technician and I am waiting her return phone call.

Anybody know how long it takes once the BC gets back for them to approve? Should be pretty quick since everything has been checked already. It is at that point where you cross the 100 days and the days just keep rolling up faster with less desire to check your application.

From what I understand, they send it off to the printer which could take 2 or 3 weeks (I believe they are done in batches). When it is returned from the printer, they validate the information, change the status to 'Application Complete' and throw it in the mail.

Well I called and actually was able to speak to the technician in charge of my application. She said everything looks fine adn that she will be issuing my license. Oh boy was I happy, then she said within the next two weeks, which I assume is not the time to send to the printer. I don't understand, how can it look fine with everything in order but take that long?

Days since Austin received paperwork = 114
Days from date on PIN letter = 86
NO Issues with missing paperwork, prints or photos.

"Waiting on Harris County BG Check".

This is starting to get ridiculous. How are Tarrant & Dallas counties getting BG checks done so fast? Maybe they have more than one trooper?
Has anyone every thought that Harris County is someway or somehow intentionally moving at snails pace for political reasons? makes you wonder.....

I was thinking Austin in general is moving at a snails pace for political reasons.


My app was out of Nueces Co and I'm waiting. But other guys in my class have received theirs. Guess mine's just screwed up. Well I suppose the upside is I've long spent that $250 so I don't miss it anymore

131 days ...thats unforgivable

I've been lurking on the board for a couple months now and decided to post. I am at day 125 and it is beginning to P*** me off. Called DPS today and found out the lady doing my app is on vacation this week so I know I won't see my plastic for at least another month. One week till she gets back and if my BC from Harris county is sitting on her desk when she returns then another two to three weeks at the "printer" and another week(at least) before I see it. Most likely Harris county won't have it on her desk anyway so that means it could be two months or more. i have not called anyone yet but,I think I am going to call Ted Poe's office tomorrow, I know he is on the federal level but with his standing in Harris county I am guessing he would be able to steer me in the direction of the folks in Harris county causing the delays. This is getting out of hand when I'm seeing people on here that sent their stuff in 8 weeks after us February applicants getting their permits already.

IF they are not lying to you about the BC, hopefully I am right behind you. When I spoke with them on Friday, they told me they put in an 'official inquiry' with Harris County on June 5th regarding my BC but had not heard anything back from the county... absolutely ridiculous.

I know exactly how you feel... I think I have gotten to the point where I just don't give a crap anymore.

I also had the issue of my background check being returned the day that my "Technician" went on Vacation. The other "Technician" said that I would have to wait until she got back for it to be sent to the printer. I called my State Senator's office (John Carona) and let them know the bit of information that DPS fed me. My senator's office was already upset with it taking so long to get my license that they called DPS to "straighten them out". I received a phone call later that day that my license was being sent to the printer. Received a phone call 2 days later saying it was in the mail. 4 days later--RECEIVED. So by all means, call your State Senators! They were originally able to get DPS to get Lubbock County to return by BG check and then get DPS to print & issue the license when DPS said I would have to wait.

At this point I see no reason to call anyone any more. When I was at day 100 I called everyone I could and was told just about the same thing everyone else was being told. I called and emailed Sen. Mike Jackson's office and they had the DPS call me at work and tell me the same thing everyone else was being told. I know i did alot more calling and arguing that I want to sit here and type, So to be totally honest I think I got so mad that I just started to not care if I got it or not. It was a big surprise when I called yesterday and they said my BG check was back I almost fell out of my chair. I was even more surprised when I called this morning just to see if they would say something different and they did, they said that my licence was issued today and that I should have it in about 7 days. So who know whats what anymore because my status still says "Prosseing Application". I hope you dont have to wait as long as I have. I have a coworker that took his class and mailed his paperwork before me and they are telling him they are still waiting on his background check from Harris county, so go figure. there is no telling how these people work. I will wait until my status says application complete ao whatever it says when its finished to post here again. Good luck to you all.....I know I'm tired of waiting
