Not even an update on the web site? Me neither, and it's been 24 days since I mailed the documents. Still showing the same thing as day 1.

License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page.

I think the only updates we are going to get is after it is mailed. I would like at least some sign that they received my stuff.
If you call they will verify that they have received your documents. It won't speed up the process but it will give you peace of mind.
I called the other day and they wouldn't verify anything. They said they would verify receipt when they started to process the file. So if it takes 40 days to start on it, that's when they'll say they got it.

I submitted 10/2 so I'm thinking, with any luck, maybe I'll see an update by next Friday but hopefully no later than the following Friday, 10/15. Will keep our fingers crossed!
That's strange, everyone I've ever spoken with has gone out of their way to help me. Perhaps you were unlucky enough to get one of the new people added to handle the post sep rush.

Yeah, I thought so, too. She was very friendly. Maybe she was just buried under a ton of work. But she said they wouldn't update the website until they started processing the file. Who knows, maybe it's a new procedure. In any event, I'm coming up on 5 weeks, so with some luck, I may hear something late this week or the following. Maybe even have it in the mailbox by thanksgiving.

So I checked with Austin today. Spoke to Rebecca. She was very polite, very friendly. We discussed the floods in Austin and she said it was raining again today.

She then asked when I sent my package and I replied 10/2. She asked if I sent it registered and I replied I used Priority 2 day. She asked if I had a tracking number and if the post office showed it as delivered. I said yes, delivered 10/4 at 1:22pm. She said that's all I need to know, if the USPS shows it delivered, it was. The website would update when they started to process the application. She then asked if I had any other further questions, so I asked if they had an average turnaround time, in days. She said to expect 60 days and if it arrives sooner to be thankful. She said they were working on a lot of renewals, as well.

Looks like you, Txdadof8 and are in a race since we sent our stuff around oct 2-3. I assume we should at least get an update soon since the September apps that send their apps in the last week of September already got updates. At this rate, it seems that the November apps are going to be backed up for a couple of months or so.

Hope we see an update soon though.

Makes you wonder why they haven't hired a few extra people to help with the load. If the load is that large then the fees they are collecting should be enough to cover the needed people too.

You are assuming they process them in order they receive which is not the case... Sorry to bust your bubble... :banghead:

kman79 wrote:RE-Submitted NEW Application documents on October 1st using online form: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

To date (10/16) no change in application status via online

I say resubmitted because I called on the 1st of October to simply ask if the Documents were successfully transmitted using online form; first person who answered the phone stated they did receive it on September 17, but for some reason, no movement on my application has occurred. He then transferred me to a person who is suppose to be the one to process the documents, she stated that no documents were received and to resubmit the documents, so I resubmitted them on October 1st.

I'm trying my best to not be so eager and have trust in the system and wait the 30 days like the recorded message says when you call them. Hoping for the best and patiently waiting, I do still check the site everyday though :(

On November 1st comes and no change in my application status has occurred, I'll call again and ask if it is okay for me to send my application and documents via the old fashion USPS mail. If we're sending via mail, is it better to send using a signature required service or just first class mail is sufficient?

Good luck to everyone!
To update you guys.

I logged in just now and saw that my application was updated. Background check is the only thing that's pending. That's 36 days from time of online submission to status update. October submissions are slowly getting processed.

Sit tight everyone, you'll get it soon enough

Thanks for the update Kman79. Today marks 33 days since I submitted (mailed) the required materials. Hope to see at least an online update this week.

I'm at 40 days now. Haven't heard a peep. No updates, nothing. Background should be a breeze. Although I did have one moving violation in the last 36 years, back in 08.
