I've read on here in several threads where posters claim the people answering the phones only answer phones, and aren't the ones that process the applications. I'm not sure anyone knows anything for certain about this whole convoluted process.zencurry wrote: I am curious, even though I realize this is a relic of the days of paper, if when someone calls in if their folder doesn't find its way to the bottom of the proverbial stack--"No Soup for you!"

Re: "Waiting Room"
After trying for a few days, I managed to reach an operator at DPS. This was my third call speaking with someone. I've tried calling once a month to verify everything was received, but was only able to speak with Too-Early-Darryl both times.GibsonLesPaul wrote:Greetings!

(email confirmation same day)

(email confirmation same day)
This time I was finally able to verify that they have received everything they needed from me, but that was the end of the good news.
The nice lady, who didn't give her name, said they are still working on mid-December apps.
It seems to contradict everything I see here, but at least I now know my wait won't be prolonged due to missing information.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Tried calling all day. Finally got through at 5pm. Waited on hold 45 minutes. Victor answered and seemed much more helpful than others I've spoken to. He went over all my submission dates, verified all of my info was correct, sort of sighed at the time frame. He apologetically said that the volume of applications has made it difficult to estimate delivery times, but most mid to late December applicants should be wrapped up "any week now, and most likely by mid-late March."

Then why are we seeing any January's coming out. If they haven't finished December no one should be working on the next month. Government Intelligencesweatmachine wrote:Tried calling all day. Man, who knows? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to any of this. I think the most foolish part is us trying to find logic in it.zimmerdesignz wrote: Then why are we seeing any January's coming out. Re: "Waiting Room"
I personally like Darryl, he always gives me a strait up accurate answer. He won't tell you what you want to hear, but he won't lie to you either. I'd much rather be told it's gonna take 3 months then someone telling me I'll get the license in 2 weeks (when it doesn't happen) Also, to clear the confusion, the phone clerks do not process the documents, in fact they're in a seperate office from where they process the paperwork. They prob have the most powerless job in the state. I'm always polite & understanding when I call in. If anyone's waiting goes past 60 days (this is from time they get all the completed docs, prints & for those with no arrests ever), you should call your reps. If you're under 60 days, you shouldn't call. It's 60 calendar days, not business days. But, keep in mind if you have any arrests, or anything else flagged on your background then it bumps to 180 days technically speaking.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I waited on hold from 6pm to 7pm yesterday and no one ever pickup. I have to add that MUSIC is mind numbingly annoying! LOL. I called just this monring and waited on hold for 40-45 minutes. I got a young lady very polite but to the point. She told me my license was issued on the 2nd
Now I stalk the mailman. My mailman looks like WIllie Nelson so this could be fun. Everytime I see him, I think of the Toby Keith song I'll never smoke weed with Willie again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OJWw07oPAE

Re: "Waiting Room"
I'm sure it is just me, but there is a certain apprehension about getting excited and it was just a story to get me off the phone. I'm the kind of guy that the glass is half empty. That way if I find out it is half full I'm pleasantly surprised. If I find out it really is half empty, I expected that and I am not let down. So I will be cautious about excitement until I have it in my hands.
