Hi all ... Yes, the waiting is tough. I've just gotten through the whole process and am in my second day of carrying (my waiting room was the June applications group). I know from following the other posts in the June applications section of this forum that the waiting times vary. Mine took a little longer than some of the others (45 days from when the web-site had data on me ; 61 days from when the post office said they had my packet). I wish I could offer some advice on how to wait well ... but I failed that test; I checked the web-site every day. In any case it is well worth the wait. All the best.

I did the paper fingerprints. :???: I hadn't read about some of the issues with them until after I had them submitted. Though, from what I hear, people who have had paper fingerprint problems just go do them electronically and only hold up the process a few days.

Guess I'll just cross my fingers (pun intended) and hope that my instructor was good at rolling the prints.

I did the old paper fingerprinting method, and had no problems with them going through. Even if they need to be re-taken electronically, it won't hold up the process. The BG check is what takes forever! :banghead:
I sent in my application in early-mid June and everything is good (and has been for over a month) except the BG check! I'm still waiting for it to be completed. Good luck to you all. If you prepare for a long wait, it won't be a big deal at all...

i finally took the CHL course and had a blast with it. :woohoo yeah it was 10hrs long but well worth it with the knowledge that i was recieving... BUT of course now im in the waiting room haha...i really like this forum because i feel like the questions i have 1,000 other people have the same question... now im deciding on whether to carry my kimber custom II 1911 or my glock 23... more than likely carrying glock... took course aug. 7 and mailed in my papers aug.10 ....talked to the "CHL people" said it would be two weeks till it shows up my status... but i still check all the time!!! i have gone gun crazy averaging 1 gun a month for the past 4 months...which isnt bad for a poor college student :txflag:

I'm also considering what to carry. I love my 1911's, but full size would be more of a challenge to conceal - even in the winter. I figure it would be my glock 23 as primary, then a smith J frame for those light clothing summer days. maybe a LCP as a BUG. It seems that the waiting here may not be the hardest aspect of the CHL journey after all. It is, however, the most aggrivating!

Congrats! You're in the same boat as me, but about 6 days behind. Though knowing my luck, you'll probably have plastic in hand and I'll still be twiddling my thumbs with the background check.. :cryin

I just checked my status for my renewal. The status went from something like Fingerprints not required for renewal to "Fingerprints: Under review" . Yesterday it was green with a check mark, today is yellow with a triangle. My status for Background check is still "Under review", has been for a couple days. It tells me there's activity, but I don't much like the idea of it going backwards. Think there might have been a flag in my background check to make a need to check my prints from 4 years ago?
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

If you are unsure, I would just call their offices and ask if there is an issue with the fingerprints you sent in with your original application 4 years ago. You may get a generic answer, but at least then someone knows what's going on with your renewal. It could just be a mistake made while entering status updates into the system. Unless you have done something wrong in the past 4 years, I can't think of a reason for reversing the status of your prints besides an error on their end.
I've had great results with calling and politely asking what the hold up might be, and if there is anything more I can do to speed the process along. Usually you get an understanding person on the other end with a generic yet reassuring answer to your question. If it were me, I would wait a few days and If it doesn't change back, I would call. :tiphat:

Well, I'm not all that impatient, I'm only about 3 weeks in. It's just that my birthday passed and so my license is expired, I procrastinated a little too long. I was a little confused whether I had to do the prints and photos at all because I requested my package before the change. It took me a while to get that straightened out.
Anyway, the status on my fingerprints is back to green and says "Complete". So, just waiting on background check again.
