I just got off the phone with Austin, and they are still waiting on Harris County to respond with the field background check. They say that there is nothing that can be done to spur Harris County along, but I wonder... Anyone have experience with that? I'm thinking of calling the Harris County Records Dept to ask if they are experiencing a slow-down due to Ike.

Smokin and Texasnative... what counties are you in? 2 months is livable, just curious to compare different circumstances.

SmokeTA...what county do you live in? I'm just guessing by the decent turn-around that you are not in one of the Gulf Coast counties that rec'd the Ike delay letter. Congrats!

Called DPS-Austin again today...nothing. They're still waiting on Harris County. Ike certainly caused a lot of grief, but for Harris County to capitalize on Ike to hide their shortcomings is just outrageous. :mad5
I'm sure if I delayed my property tax payment, and blamed it on Ike, they wouldn't be so understanding. :grumble

They had my app since June 13th, but DPS did not send in the back ground info until Aug 8th, and I am still waiting on Harris County. I just finished a pretty nasty letter to DPS wanting answers. 5 months to have a packet turned in is plenty of time to have all this taken care of, I also advised them I did not want to hear an excuse about Hurricanes or being short handed that I wanted answers, or I will find someone who can give me answers. If I would have known it was this much of a pain in the ... I would have never taken the course. Another side note to all this, I have had the folks at DPS when you call tell me that Harris County is doing back ground checks, and some said the FBI is doing the back ground checks and some tell me we can't share that information. So does DPS really know who is doing the back ground checks? LOL I bet it's a private company!!!!!!LOL

Has anyone ever received their license in the mail prior to the website updating?
