05/08/13-----First Update On DPS website (Background Check Under-review)

Seeing people that mailed around or after the date I and others did just frustrates me. I understand having to be patient but the similar timelines and random updates just drives me crazy. Not a single update yet and I have seen others get faster updates, I have a clean record too don't know if that matters but just very frustrating.

Thanks very much. fyi my bg took 5 working days7 with the weekend. I could'nt believe it 2 months in my hand.
I'm not going to know what to do after checking it daily and reading all the posts on here.
So I will be exploring the rest of the forum more.

04/26/2013 BG underway finally I guess (San Antonio Texas agency's are behind) I been told depends what County you live in, so if you live a smaller county it comes back faster. Bexar is a large county so I don't expect to see any status update for a while.

I sent everything in the mailbox on March 4th. I got my first update to background check: under review on April 16th. I was hoping the background would go quick since my record is immaculate (have never even been pulled over *knock on wood*) and I work for the local police department. However no luck. Sitting at 20 days in background, and 62 total days right now in the "mailbox to mailbox" scenario. I imagine I will hear something shortly since some of the longer mailbox to mailbox time frames I've seen are in the mid 70 range. Here's to patience!

I mailed on the same day and am running 2 days ahead of you on bgr. Patience is wearing thin when others are getting plastic. To patience!!

Mine updated to BG complete/Manufacture pending on 05/11/13. Finally

I have to think that it all depends on which pile your packet was placed in when it arrived. My mom and I took our CHL class together, but I had to wait an extra week before I could do my online app and schedule my fingerprints (was waiting on paycheck before doing online app). So my mom mailed her application one week before I did. That said, ours both changed to "received" on the same day. Neither of us have any background to speak of, yet mine has already gone to manufacturing, while my mom's is still in background review.

3/15/13 Fingerprints done
3/18/13 Mailed, certified, return receipt
3/21/13 Received and signed for at DPS
5/6/13 Application received, pending background review
5/11/13 Manufacture pending
54 days from the date I mailed the packet
51 days from the date DPS received and signed for my application.... and counting!

I can't wait to be able to legally carry, but then I struggle with the "am I ready to carry" thoughts.
