we are finally getting somewhere it looks like. Lots of people just before me have finally received their licenses... I should be coming up soon.

Looks like DPS needs a bigger/newer/faster printer. Just got this from Rene M. (after I sent the question on 4/15):

"We are currently awaiting the printing of the license. Thank you for your continued patience"

I don't know if I should laugh or cry, rejoice or be steamed. This is day 45, so I guess they 'technically' have 15 more days to get the print and lookover done, but still...
:thumbs2: :totap: :woohoo :banghead:

Actually this is day 74 for you. As referenced a few posts back your application is considered received the day they receive it completed. Since you apparently had a completed application with no errors the day you delivered your app to DPS that would be the day your 60 day clock started ticking.

My buddy is on day 80 and still nothing so that has me a little down, its friday at 4:30 so I know he wont get his by saturday so that means he is going to be at day 83 on monday. Looking for a little good news from anyone out there. :confused5

Hate to break it to you but here's a post from someone in the January Application thread which doesn't sound good for any of us.
Took Class on Jan 10, sent paperwork in on Jan 12, DPS received and have been processing application ever since Jan 15. Emailed DPS April 3 and asked status, they replied on April 9 and told me that my application has been approved and they are wainting on the printing of the license.

I emailed a follow up status question 0n April 23 and asked what the hold up is and this is what they replied.
" Thank You for your patience, we are experiencing technical diffulties with the printer. You should receive your permit within 14-21 days.

Might be a while if this is true.

Well I called Friday afternoon after not receiving a reply to my email I sent and was able to speak to the most helpful lady at DPS. She said that my application was complete on the February 25 when they received it and that I was on my 60 day mark. She then later informed me that they are behind at least 2-3 weeks and to check back in the middle of May.

What I don't understand, is that a lot of us are law abiding citizens so there should not be that much to look further into. In my case, 21 years old with a copy of the records showing a DOC was dismissed with my application would be the only snag I could tell.

I am kind of at the point with everybody else that the statue says 60 days then it should be done.

Just wanted to let everybody know an update of what I was told. Then I read today that a guy posted about the system being down again, anybody have any insight into why it keeps happening, and how long?

I emailed Senetor Mike Jackson's office Friday after getting a vague answer from the DPS. I received a call from the DPS today from a very friendly Lady named Heather and she said that she spoke with Barbara at the senetors office and that she was checking into my application. She then said she showed that they are still waiting for my background check and that as soon as they receive it they will have my licence in the mail. So whatever that is worth, I'm on day 75 now. Hope this doesnt put me on the bottom of the stack but I would think with the Rep's office calling and checking on this they wouldnt do that. I am sending the rep's office a thank you email for at least taking the time and calling them. Will let you guys know if I get anywhere on this.

LOL, its almost comical at this point. I called today (day 61) and I was given the Hurricane Ike excuse. :totap: I politely said "oh really?" and thanked him. It'll be interesting to see what the problem will be tomorrow when I call again.

They really should get together on what excuse they are giving for the day. Something like Monday is computer problem day, Tuesday is printer problem day, Wednesday is manpower shortage day, Thursday is we just don't know day, and Friday could be call us back on Monday day. At least they would be consistent. "rlol"

I read someone was told their application was complete but they were having printing problems so not to expect anything for 14 to 21 days. I then read today someone who sent in a change of address for his CHL 10 days ago and guess what he got back already.... kinda makes the printer excuse a little hard to swallow unless the change of address CHL was completed with white out.

I was told their computer network was down today... guess Ike came back through Texas undetected and landed directly on the CHL office in Austin today.

I am going to personally email them this tomorrow and kindly ask that they follow the bull excuse for the day table...PRICELESS

I was also told this 14-21 day stuff. Peoples status' change everyday and people get the plastic EVERYDAY. I guess renewals and COA people get their own special printer

I took my class and sent my packet in before you and I am still waiting, I guess you dont live in Harris County. I can thank the people who work in the city of Houston that are in charge of getting the background checks back to the state for that. Day 76 and counting!! :banghead:

My phone calls and e-mails started yesterday and will continue. I look at this very similarly like one of my business contracts with the outline of the contract written by goverment codes. It states specifically what I have to do to obtain a CHL and it also states specifically what the state agencies have to do. At this point the state, for whatever reasons (seems to be multiple depending on who you ask), have failed to meet their obligations as outlined by the govermental codes.

Truethfully I'm not worried about when I receive my CHL as I know eventially it will come but the premise of making me jump through hoops by dotting every i and crossing every t yet not having to conform to the same rules gets my goat.
