Re: August 2011 Applications
Greetings All,
Here is my record of dates:
Aug 3rd – Online License Application submitted
Aug 6th – Class at Bullet Hole in San Antonio
Aug 8th – L1 prints
Aug 12th – packet mailed - waited until my wife had her prints done on the 12th. We both mailed packets the same day.
Aug 26th – manufacturing
Aug 27th – mailed
I don't think that is too bad of a time frame. Started and unless the USPS messes up should finish in the same month. Can't check on my wife's status at this time. I remember her DL# but can't remember her SSN. Have to wait until she wakes up from her nap. Yesterday her status was manufacturing just like mine so I suspect her's will also show mailed but will see. (In fact, I had a much harder time getting my Texas DL thanks to a petty bureaucrat in Hondo.)
It is kind of funny to me as to how anxious I am to receive it. I've been living in another state for the last 15 years and been carrying for almost that entire time. Still carrying using my present license via reciprocity but still, I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.

Re: August 2011 Applications
I'm really thinking that they've got the CHL mailings down to a 't'. I sent in the forms on the 1st, got my CHL on the 17th. I also changed my address in that two weeks, so on the 18th I paid the fee and changed the address online, and got the new plastic on the 24th.
Either I've led a very boring life and nothing got in the way of my background check, or the state has figured this out!
Headed to the Freeman Coliseum tomorrow for the SA gun show, maybe I'll see some of ya'all there.

Re: August 2011 Applications
So my background check and fingerprints have been under review for quite a while. I've noticed that some have their background check and fingerprints completed in just a few days. I took the class first and then completed the application at a later date. Does anyone know if this could be a reason why my background and fingerprints are taking so long? I've noticed that some members on this forum completed the application first. I know I have 60 days, but it is a little depressing to see guys with a turn around of two weeks or less.

Waited for payday, lol night sights work great... Laser was just piece of mind and not necessaryipscshooter wrote:Probably should have placed that order a little earlier... Looks like your plastic will hit the mail Monday, then you'll be waiting on the laser.sublevel wrote:
August 26 2011 - ordered a SIG 238-TGL laser for my SIG P238 with Hogue grip and a Sneaky Pete Holster... Gotta get some Federal Hydra-Shoks too.... Oh yeah the wait is on...
I was thinking about getting one for my 238 as well. Trying to decide between Sig's and the Crimson Trace. Be sure to post how you like it.
Gunshows in your area? The plain Jane sig238 with lasers should be around, try one and they always have a CT pusher
Holster should arrive Tuesday from NY, laser coming out of FL
SIG laser = < 120.00 shipped (on off switch, I've got long fingers and can easily activate it)
CT laser = 175.00 + on average (will not work with hogue grip - maybe a slip on one, cost more)
Also added a wolf springs lower power hammer spring from a colt mustang and polished up the guts a little in mine. I did a spring swap on another p238 that was broke in and it's nice

Re: August 2011 Applications
I don't think the class timing is the problem. I took the class in February and didn't apply until August. My BG check was done in about a week. Have you tried calling them to check on the hold-up?Z8442 wrote:So my background check and fingerprints have been under review for quite a while. Re: August 2011 Applications
Yes I have tried calling but they keep telling me that since my application was received 07/29/11, I need to wait till 09/29/11 before they consider it late. Every time I call they pretty much say that they wont do anything till that date. So I've been stuck on the pending status for fingerprints and background check since the beginning of august. I guess I am just one of the unlucky ones who has to wait out the 60 days....

I'm officially in the waiting room with yall. Glad my life is so busy so that the time goes quickly! Crossing my fingers that my application lands on the fast desk and not on the vacationer's!

Re: August 2011 Applications
Current Status: Manufacturing
Prediction:
08/30 - Mailed
09/01 - Postmarked
09/02 - Plastic
I was able to shoot about 200 rounds through my new XDm yesterday. I'll try to do a range report in another thread.
