March Applicants

My 25 y.o. son and I took the same course together and I mailed our applications at the same time. They were both received by DPS on March 26th. In mid-May, my son's license arrived in the mail. I have yet to receive mine. I don't have so much as a traffic ticket, so I can't image what the hold up is!

I've called four times and got a different answer every time. 1)waiting on two background checks, 2)background checks are complete, waiting on supervisory approval, 3)everything is complete, should be finished soon, then finally, 4)those people you spoke to before don't work here any more and they didn't even have access to the information they were telling you....

So, on August 18th, I sent the following email.


I am fully aware of the recent sudden increase in the number of applications received by DPS. However, there seems to be more than a "normal" delay in the processing of my application, which has been in DPS's system for more than 145 days.

If there is a problem or question, I would appreciate an opportunity to address any concern. Otherwise, I would equally appreciate an explanation other than "we're swamped".

Assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.t was shown


On August 20th, I received this reply from CHL@txdps.state.tx.us-

Dear Mr. Tisdale,

I understand your concern and apologize for the delays you have experienced. We are on the final step of processing your application. Please allow a little longer.

Obviously, I'm still waiting...........

Call and ask to speak to a supervisor, if you get people like I got they will not let you speak to one. If you get one like that say thank you, hang up and call back and try again. It took me 4 times to finally get someone that got frustrated enough to get me to a supervisor. After all the non answers I got about waiting on this or that I was told my license would be issued before the end of the week. This was on Thursday and Saturday morning it was shown as complete as of Friday. I was always as polite as I could be given the fact that no one could give me a good answer. It might work for you.

It is definitely looking like tomorrow if I don't get any answers I will be contacting a state rep, this is ridiculous. I am not old enough to have a background and yet for whatever reason I am STILL waiting. I don't understand how people that just sent their apps in a month or two ago have plastic but yet something going on 6 months is still sitting there. *shrug* Glad to see they are pulling through for some of you though.

Well, maybe the trick is that you finally get fed up enough to post here, lol.

As I stated in my very first post - last night, my application was received on March 26th.

I called four times and finally emailed on the 18th.

Well, I was shocked to see THIS today - (146 days since 3/26) -

"Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

Hang in there. It looks like they may be trying to catch up!!

Well I guess my time has come, must have just guessed the right day but I called and they said it was issued today... shows online as being issued as well. *Finally* -- hope everyone else is done with this as well =\
