My Timeline
03/15/14- Completed Online Application
11/12/14 - Got Fingerprints done
02/11/15- Took CHL Class
02/12/15- Submitted supporting paper work.

UPDATE

02/13/15 - Email from DPS acknowledging they received my supporting paper work.
03/16/15- Got home being out of town and found out they need a copy of my DD214 still (sent it with supporting documents I thought. Uploaded copy and mailed a copy to be sure.
03/17/15 - Email from DPS acknowledging they received my Support paper work.

Moving my status info from Feb to here to better track. So Friday I'll be on my 3rd week since acknowledgment email. Wondering if folks notice status change on certain days mainly and a time of day? I'm currently out of country for work and won't be back until some time next week. Though I do pop on and try to check every couple days on the site and nothing yet. Hopefully soon.

I sent my things a couple days ahead of you, so I hope my turn is coming up soon. I'm in Bryan/College Station too, so this might disprove the theory about applications being sorted by county.

Maybe, I have been fingerprinted and background checked before by other gov't agencies so maybe that helped speed things up?

I have had multiple background checks as well. Got a Top Secret clearance while in the Army. State Department background check done to go overseas as a contractor. Had the Federal Bureau of Prisons do one as well for employment as well as Local Police Department. There shouldnt be any reason for any hold ups lol

I've been following this site for awhile and thought I'd share a little nugget of info I found out today when I called to check status and inquire about the process time of my application. First let me provide the timeline.

1/28/15 - filled out online application
2/1/15 - fingerprints
2/3/15 - chl class
2/5/15 - mailed all documentation including dd214

After reading how some folks are receiving their license in 10+ days, I decided to call today and check. I first ask if I did not receive a letter or license by the 60th day would my application close, and the reply was absolutely not. Internally, they are not bound by the 60 day rule and the app would stay open as long as it took to make a determination.
Second thing I learned was my dd214 was not cleared til 2/19 and that's when they actually ly started the background check in which she said they have 35 days to complete. So , I'm looking at around 3/19 ór so before I can expect them to have my background check completed
Definitely made me feel better. I was beginning to think there was a problem.

2/13: Fingerprints
2/14: CHL Class, yes on vday
2/14: Submitted documents online and mailed originals (just in case)
2/17: email confirmation of documents submitted
3/3: Online status changed as of 6 am allowing me to change address, report card stolen etc..

Not a bad turn around time, I do live in Austin and have no record which might have made things go a little faster.

Lets see how fast the plastic gets here being in Austin and all.

Plastic arrived today!

3 day delivery from the time my status changed.
