October Applications

Re: October Applications
I apologize for the double post. I accidentally put this in the September Applications thread first.
Well, getting a CHL has been on my "bucket list" for years, and now I'm finally going for it.
Applied on line on 25 Sep
Finished the CHL class on 28 Sep
Got finger printed on 8 Oct
Mailed checklist and docs on 9 Oct
Now, I'm just waiting for the first status update. I may have messed up by not sending the checklist and docs by certified mail, return receipt requested. I sent it first class mail,
so now I have no idea if they even got it. Did most of you send it certified mail?

Re: October Applications
I submitted ours via USPS Priority Mail on 10/2 & their tracking showed they delivered it in Austin at 11:04 AM on 10/4. The website says they're still waiting to receive the docs that were delivered on the 4th. So, USPS did their part and I guess the state is just very busy. Hopefully we'll all hear something soon.Bozz48 wrote:I apologize for the double post. I accidentally put this in the September Applications thread first.

Re: October Applications
It takes over a month before the DPS website status changes, you guys are looking at November sometime to see a change in status.. Not sure why anyone is still mailing their documents though. You can email and/or fax them to DPS. If you live in Austin area, you can drop them at their building in person too.
Re: October Applications
I just submitted everything today. So the wait begins. Hopefully I won't have any problems. I had an arrest in 2004 and looked up my record in that county (it was in Kentucky) but there was no record because the whole incident was expunged. So hopefully they don't ask me for paperwork on it.
Re: October Applications
If you look on the Waiting Room thread, some folks had as little as 16 day turnarounds. What's happening now is the state got inundated with renewals, folks who were sitting on sitting on apps for months and hadn't renewed because they didn't take renewal training and with the change in the law, now they don't need to. So they're working on processing that newly created backlog. So now there's no telling how long it will be.infoman wrote:It takes over a month before the DPS website status changes, you guys are looking at November sometime to see a change in status.. Re: October Applications
You may want to get a letter from the county court stating there is no record of the arrest. Unless something has changed, if you listed the arrest (which you should have) they are going to want records.jojo4711 wrote:I just submitted everything today. So the wait begins. Re: October Applications
Well, my timeline is as follows:
9/22/2013 - Online application completed
10/4/2013 – Completed fingerprint FAST Prints.
10/8/2013 – Completed required CHL-100 Class/Range
10/8/2013 – mailed in required paperwork
10/10/2013 – USPS delivered paperwork to Austin
The website has not changed from awaiting for the material to arrive which it did two weeks ago...
Any idea of the wait on the status change?????????

Re: October Applications
Right now it takes over a full month for the status change, whether you mailed certified or not.

Re: October Applications
I believe it might take a few more weeks. I submitted all my required materials via e-mail on 10/2/2013 and I still haven't gotten an update yet. I figure it would be soon though since some people on the September apps thread that submitted late September say their application are getting processed and have been changed.DCCS(SW/AW) Ret. wrote:Well, my timeline is as follows:

Re: October Applications
Lol! Cool, glad to know you got a status update! DPS received all my documents approximately 1 week (9/20) before you and nothing yet. I'm a newbie as well and discovered that DPS does not process applications on a first come, first served basis, I don't know what they do? So, more (more) waiting for me I guess, lol!bnash972 wrote:New app timeline: Sept/Oct

Re: October Applications
One of the October renewals must know the answer to this. Has DPS redesigned the license or does it still say "Category" in the upper right? If it's still there, do they leave the category blank or put "SA" for everyone? Thank you.
