what's the procedure for the DPS updating their website/status information? Does it update in real-time or end of the day or overnight? In other words, if you check it at noon is there any sense in checking again until the next day because their site doesn't update as things are finshing up?

1. You just asked my first question.

Second:

Anybody know how to suppress the urge to check daily?

No idea when or how they update, but it usally takes a couple of weeks from receipt of the materials until it shows up checked off (from what I've read).

:iagree:
My wifes, took 3 weeks to show up, and in a week after that, the license was mailed, so while its frustrating waiting, things are progressing along, if you do not see it online that way.

14 days since Austin received the packet. . . I have "no status" still as of today. . . comforting to know that things may be progressing even if they do not choose to update their site.. . I really didn't think this part would be that tough because I had convinced myself that I didn't care about the waiting. . . I have discovered that I CARE! I CARE DEEPLY!!

Take a couple of deep breaths and then rush down to DeFoors and peruse all the guns in the store. Does not help any but sure helps to pass the time waiting.

Hello to all November applicants!

Here is my timeline:
Online application submited on 11/05/2010
Package mailed on 11/08/2010
Package delivered on 11/10/2010

No status update so far. It still says: "License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page. "

I'm a November as well.

I took the class in Sept.

Dropped off the paperwork on 11/15.

As of today still nothing in the system. Here's hoping there are no whammies.

Packet mailed / Online registration 11/22/10
Nothing more to report now.

Hey hammondc, welcome to the wait! I've settled in for the long-haul. . . 3 weeks today since DPS has had it in their hands with no status change. I figure it will just show up in the mail in a couple weeks while the status online remains unchanged. . .it borders on cruel that there is a site available for updates that never updates??

For all those waiting, I just received my plastic in the mail today after 21 days. I checked earlier in the day and my status was the same as it has been for the last 21 days - just the paragraph about DPS waiting to receive all my items.

I did the online application, electronic fingerprints, took the CHL class, then submitted all the last items to the DPS office here in Austin personally since I didn't want my packet to get lost in the mail. Not sure if that helped my application get approved faster or not.

Looking forward to contributing to the discussion and thanks to all those that have already posted - I find this forum very helpful since I'm new to CHL.
