Brandon, when you submitted your application, did you send in any supporting documentation in your packet to verify your NAI heritage? If not, I'd suggest calling DPS CHL bureau, and ask to speak to a technician who is familiar with these matters. I guarantee you it won't be the first person who answers the phone, as they are processors. When processors are not familiar with an issue such as this, they forward your file to a "technician" to sort out the issue. If I were in your situation, I would insist on speaking to a technician about this.

Explain your situation to the "call taker" and ask to speak to the technician in charge that handles these kinds of things. As far as I'm concerned these technicians are the final word in routine processing. If the technician is unable to handle it, they then forward the file on to a staff attorney. They will let you know what they need from you.

But I would try to head off potential road blocks before they appear, as the dreaded "incomplete information" letter could take weeks to get to you, and another couple of weeks for them to receive back what they are missing.

Being as pro-active as you can will help your approval process speed, IMO. Just my $.02 worth.

Yes, I did send copies of my cards along w DL with my packet. The cards show my number, tribe, blood, photo...ect.
One was issued by tribe the other is from the government.

I was looking at stats for 2008 (2007-2008) not many applicants in this catergory. My zip has high CHL holder acceptance rate w no suspensions or revokes that I could find. Maybe this is a good thing.

Dropped mine off at the DPS office on Wednesday, 9/16. Now waiting... I'm going to wait a little while before I check status online.

That's the temptation (check it and keep hitting refresh, yelling at the screen "HURRY UP!"), but I'm thinking a few more days. ;)

I'm disciplining myself to check only 3 times per day. 8am; 4pm and midnight.

And in between those times 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm 5pm, 7pm, 9pm.

I think I've covered my bases pretty well....but what happens in those off hours? Maybe I need to check those times too. Phew. This is getting complicated.  :totap: :waiting: :ack:
