From comments elsewhere, evidently they don't print them inhouse. May be another DPS department, but it's not the CHL guys.

Don't fret too much. I mailed mine the same day as you and they still don't have the background checks done (I called yesterday).

I've lived in Dallas County for the past 30 years. 4 years was college, 24.5 years working (I now work in Collin County) I have zero arrests and the only run in with the law is two speeding tickets in all those years, and one ticket for an expired inspection and the last one of those was over 8 years ago. This stinks!

I'm getting to the point of contacting my representative, who happens to chair the law enforcement committee.

I recall reading in another thread that the DPS was temporarily having the licenses printed before the checks were done to speed things up. But then I came across this http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... cement.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Not sure if it's old news, but could be the reason for the printing delays.

While I'm waiting on the print shop, I ordered myself a crossbreed supertuck today.
They said to give them two weeks for delievery.
We will see which is here first!

I sure am having a very exciting time waiting on the State. Isn't this fun. While they process our applications the criminals are not requesting an application they are just carrying. I sure hope the State hurries up so us law abiding people are not placed in a bad situation. :banghead:

Well, it's Friday afternoon and another week has gone by. It is hard to believe that it can take two plus weeks to print a small peice of paper. :totap: :mad5

Nine weeks today. :waiting:

63 days.

Still processing application. :grumble

Oh, well, if not for this delay, I guess there wouldn't be ANYTHING to criticize in our WONDERFUL government at all . . .
Original CHL: 2000: 56 day turnaround
1st renewal, 2004: 34 days
2nd renewal, 2008: 81 days

I ordered one Sunday before last and received the Supertuck in 5 days. I wished I had gotten the combat grip, but I didnt. There is just too much leather to get a good grip on the pistol. I trimmed it myself and it now functions perfectly. Unfortunately it is not as professional looking as it could have been. Now if I could just get my CHL, I am a couple of days shy of 60. My wife got hers two weeks ago, exactly 60 days after DPS received her application.

It's DONE! Status changed this morning!

Took exactly 90 days from day of receipt by DPS. :woohoo

When I called last Thursday, it was still waiting on the backgrounds to complete.

Question: should I stop carrying in my car, until the plastic arrives? I'm thinking this information will be in the LEO's database if they run my license, but I won't have plastic to back up the weapon.

I am happy to see that you are getting your plastic! When did you get your pin number?

Be careful not to carry until you have the plastic in hand before you carry.
