Waiting for CHL North Texas

#1

Post by buddyhotrod »

Nov 7th 2014 submitted Texas CHL application and got the bar code receipt. DD214 discount only 25 bucks.:-)

Nov 9th 2014 took the CHL Class in Mckinney,TX. Btw was a great class. Officers were very informative.

Nov 11th 2014 finger prints taken.

Nov 11th everything turned into RSD_LRS_CHL@dps.texas.gov

Nov 20th received a letter from Morphotrust that was dated 11/13/2014 stating that my finger prints were not received.Bulltet trap Plano told me this was going to happen, so no biggy.
Called the number on the letter and gave them my info and they apologized and said 14 days more for background check.

Still every time I check the Texas CHL " https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/chl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; "status I get the same old same old. Nothing, only ask me if I want to submit a CHL instructor application.

9 days now in the loop.

I have read that some people receive there plastic in the mail as soon as 7 to 9 days and I have also read that some people this year have waited months and have still not heard anything back. So who knows.
We shall see

Disabled combat Vet with aircraft Pilots lic and CDL with multiple endorsements, can't imagine there would be any discrepancies.

12/05/2014 plastic in hand.

Gonna do more research before I decide to start carrying.

First, thank you for your service.

Use this time to practice around your home. Carry always at the house, trying different methods. Find one you like and then continue to carry at the home. This way you will get somewhat used to having it with you and concealed.

Bullet Trap told you there was going to be an issue with fingerprints not being recieved?

That seems odd? Did they say what the issue was?

Just curious, that's where I'm havin prints done as well.

It's not a issue. Nothing was held up.please do not take anything I write out of context.

Bullit Trap is a perfect place to get your finger prints taken.

I have read many many post of people describing their process and the question I had while reading other people post made
Me want to explain every aspect of my experience.

Again please do not take anything I am writing out of context.

My son's took a full 6 weeks to process. He is an A.F. vet. He applied mid August and didn't receive it until mid October. Had no issues that should have held it up. We were perplexed as well. He was notified the day after he submitted his documents online that all was received. A week later he got a letter from DPS saying they were missing his fingerprints so he called DPS and they told him they did in fact have them and that his background check was complete. The guy said
it would only be a few more days. 4 weeks later, he got his plastic. :headscratch
Armed not dangerous but potentially lethal.
CHL Application mailed 10/2/12
Plastic in hand 11/16/12

11/21/2014 still nothing back from DPS, so I decided to call and see if they had even received documents.

Called DPS 11/21/2014 and kindly asked if they had received my documents, All I got was a read back of what documents had been received. I did not want to be pushy so I kindly said OK and Thank you.

Still on stand by.

Thanks RPbrown for the concealed carry practice advice, but I have to tell you that for the past 23 years I have been prowling the property with either a rifle or handgun. I took the CHL test with the same handgun I have been carrying for the past 7 years.
Have put around 5 or 6 thousand rounds threw it.
During the CHL class my tru glow night sights flew off the gun and I still scored a 248 with broken sights/ missing sights. LOL
Was more shocked by the other 9 shooters in my class that were all over the place with there firing, even one shooter was hitting the side of my target.

I guess everyone in my class had new weapons at least all of the guns I saw in the class looked brand new, and possibly had never before fired them. The guy to my right could not get his hand gun to fire at times and one of the instructors even asked him if he planned on using that weapon for a concealed carry weapon. His weapon was a new little handgun that kept jamming up. :txflag:

I'll be honest I was scared sh_tless at the range with those other students, I have always shot at the family ranch. Never around other complete strangers.
Once a friend asked me to go shoot at one of the local indoor shooting ranges, it was also a scary as Sh_t experience.

So since I have been waiting for my Plastic I have been reading, Yes reading. I truly believe I have read everything on the net in regards to a Texas CHL.
Been checking the Texas chl status 3 and 4 times a day and still nothing so I have just been reading other peoples experiences and stories.
Pretty sure I have read every post about a Texas CHL since 1996. Have now started reading about TEXAS
CONCEALED HANDGUN
LICENSE
LAWS http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/InternetFo ... CHL-16.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Blah

So anyhow thought I'd make a wake up post for the waiting room and let everyone know that I am now 16 days in the loop and still absolutely nothing. :txflag: :patriot:

Hotrod,

I too am experiencing the very same thing you are. Funny I did chl on the 8th, finger prints on the 11th and received a letter on the 21st. I called as well and I swear you talked to the same person I did as I was told what your were. I too have seen nothing on the website about the processing. I will give them another 5-9 business days then I will call again.

Cool

Very interesting to see how our process turns out.
I'm not going to contact them anymore because they do state
On their website they need 60 days for processing.

I'm gonna give them that.
I have read that they could be processing 500 per day.

Please stay in touch, very interested to see who's chl will arrive first.
Be kind and rewind.
