Insight on status screen changes for those waiting
I thought I'd share what I learned over the last 24 hours to help those that are still waiting.
My wife and I both USPS mailed our docs 5/12 and they were received by DPS 5/14. No changes to the status screen before status updates went away earlier this month. Tuesday morning my wife's changed to the "change address", "lost license", etc. Mine was still the same.
Yesterday I figured I'd go ahead and give them a call since I was pushing 60 days. After a 25 minute wait I got a friendly gentleman and told him I was trying to get a status update. He looked it up and replied, "You've got great timing, the process is complete. Your license is being printed and will mail today."
This morning my status changed to the "change address..." screen.
A few things to take from this:
1) The wait time for most seems to be currently just under 60 days. There are exceptions, but from what I've seen here this is the average.
2) When your status changes your license was printed/mailed the day before.
3) There is no sense in checking status throughout the day. The system updates around 6am each morning for the previous day.
I hope this helps!

Re: Insight on status screen changes for those waiting
This is my first post, as many before me, I think I've been reading multiple posts daily as I wait for my plastic.
You are the first person I've seen that mailed in their documents on 5/12 like myself via USPS.
I haven't had a status update yet and every time I call I get the "wait 60 days" comment, so I am . I have 2 more days until I reach 60 days, but I was excited to see the response you got from calling a few days early and thought I might have such luck, to no avail, I didn't get through. The only times I actually got through was between 9-10 am.
class: 4/27
fingerprints: 5/9
application: 5/9
sent all checklist items via USPS(not first class): 5/12
received email that they have application and fingerprints: 6/23
"Thank you for using the Regulatory Services Division’s website.
We have received your CHL application and your fingerprints are in the system. However, it is too soon to verify receipt of all required support documents at this time. This information was forwarded to a CHL Specialist for review and processing. If any other documents are required you will be contacted by mail.
For more information on CHL status changes and updates visit http://www.DPS.Texas.gov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or go to the Status Check link. Please allow staff sufficient time to continue processing these documents. It can take up to 8 weeks to complete processing."
I wish I would have found this site before I sent my packet in, I would've uploaded my documents instead of mailing them, or at least sent it certified mail instead. I get the feeling I am going to be in limbo up to 60 days from june 23rd when they said they received my application and fingerprints which is 48 days from the time I sent my packet and 53 days from the time I submitted application and fingerprints! Frankly, that's bull

It doesn't appear to be true anymore that the website only updates in the morning. When I got the "change address" screen, it was on the third refresh of the day, around 3pm.

Possibly just a coincidence that both my wife's and mine happened between 530-630am.Seburiel wrote:It doesn't appear to be true anymore that the website only updates in the morning. When I got the "change address" screen, it was on the third refresh of the day, around 3pm.

I submitted my renewal on 6/16 and I finally have the options to update my info (change address etc) so I'm assuming I'll have my new license by end of week if this holds true.

Sent my materials in on May 11. DPS told me they have my materials but they aren't verifying receipt... meaning they got it, but they haven't started processing it yet. I called them this morning and that's what they said. I'm on Day 61 and getting more impatient.
Keep calm and carry.

If this holds true, I guess I should expect to see my plastic around the end of the month.
5/21/14 - Submitted online app.
5/24/14 - Class
5/27/14 - Submitted CHL-100 & checklist
7/18/14 - Plastic in hand

Contact your State Reps... It has been stated here many time to do that.mr1337 wrote:Sent my materials in on May 11. I contacted both of mine. No results. A week later I contacted them a second time (via email) and mentioned it was the 2nd time I had contacted them. 2 hours later Austin DPS called me and left me a voicemail that they would finish my app in the next 2 days.
So it does work. If this happens enough maybe there will be something done to improve the process.
Re: Insight on status screen changes for those waiting
I sent an email to my representative in regard to what's going on. It seems like people are having good luck with that route after their 60 days is up. It must be true that it depends on who's desk it ends up on because there isn't a valid reason to hold up an application as long as they do, without reasonable grounds to do so.

Re: Insight on status screen changes for those waiting
Howdy All,
I have been a member of this forum for a couple months now. I took a little break from the site a few weeks back but came back to check and see if there was any insight into why suddenly my status screen changed on the Texas CHL site. Just after the Holiday weekend, I logged into my account to see the "Change of Address" screen you guys have alluded to. Initially I was shocked and my heart sunk as I thought there must be a problem with my application. I called on 2 different days this week. On the first (Monday this week) call I spoke with a gentleman who seemed a bit nervous and who said he would transfer my call to the individual who was reviewing my information. Naturally I got the voice mail. I left a message but have yet to get a call back. I called back TUESDAY. After over 1 hour on hold, I could not wait any longer and hung up and sent an email online. I checked my email and the site every day this week until I cam back to this site and found this thread. Reading this thread restored some sense of calm to my demeanor and restored my patience to wait and see if what is being said here is accurate. WELL... YAHOOOOOO!!!!!!! My wife just called me at work this evening and informed me my "PLASTIC" arrived today. I am now an official TX CHL holder and a loyal and firm believer in this site.
P.S. Hang in there guys. The "change of address" page is a good sign.
