llucas, have you checked the website to see if there is a status change/documents received? My status updated after 1 week, it showed documents received and what is in 'review'. I had a hard time when I first went to the website to check the status .... I couldn't find exactly where I was supposed to look. Here's the address to the website to check the status, https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/chl/login.do" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; its the same place we all go to do our online application, but this time we are considered a "returning user" and access our info from the "login" button on the bottom right of the screen. First you have to hit the login button then type in your DL # and DOB, then "continue". It will bring you to your status page that shows this info; (or something like this!)
Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

Each line is colored either yellow or green and has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it or a green circle with a checkmark in it. If it were me, and 30 days had passed and I didn't see any updates, I would seriously consider submitting all my documentation again through the website, http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; select the program (concealed handgun) from the drop down menu, choose "submit CHL supporting documents" from the drop down menu, fill in all the info, click "choose file" to browse your computer for the correct documents/file (hint, I scanned all of my documents into one file so all i had to do was attach only one file), and then at the bottom of the tabs for "choose file" you'll see an "ATTACH" tab/button, be sure to click ATTACH once you have attached all of your documents BEFORE you hit "submit form"
I hope this helped, I am, by no means, an expert at this ..... I must have just stumbled across the correct place to submit my documents as I received a status update 7 days after submission. I'm sure I still have a long wait ahead of me for the license but at least I know they have my stuff .... Good luck to you, I hope you hear soon that all documents have been received and are in review!
PS .... within a day of my online submission of documents, I had an email confirmation that documents were received......because you never received that email conf I would DEF upload them again. As an FYI ....the first time I attached them (and thought I did it right) I realized that I hadn't done it right because I didn't see that ** ATTACH ** button at the bottom of the 'attach file' column .... I had to go back and do it again, once I clicked the ATTACH button then submit form I got a confirmation page, "thank you for contacting TXDPS, your inquiry has been successfully been submitted for a response"
How long before your status changed to that though? Most have to wait quite a while for their status to change from the canned initial status. One person electronically submitted on 5-28 and a week later got an updated status, I submitted on the 29th and still have the generic status waiting on materials.

I submitted all my stuff electronically through the website on 5-28, and found the above status change on 6-4. I was shocked to say the least, I was settling in for a long wait. I'm not sure how that happened because most people have to wait for a long time. I guess I just got lucky, but I'm sure the next status change will take a LOT longer! I'm not expecting to see any changes now until sometime into August.

yeah it doesnt make a lot of sense on the whole process. Ive had 2 major airport security badges, TWIC, PRE-Check, Military Clearances, and you'd think it would be rather quick since the other clearances besides the first one in the military took no more than a day or so, but maybe its a hindrance... oh well...the wait continues...

Called DPS after Day 30

#109

Post by Reddog1 »

Waited for about 15 mins until the phone was answered. Informed DPS that I had submitted online May 2 all paperwork but no status change. DPS asked for my DL # and then confirmed they had received the paperwork and that the FAST fingerprints were a good set and that I should see a status change in about 2 weeks. Just passing along my experience....

It'll be two weeks tomorrow since I submitted my paperwork. Maybe I should try to give them a call just to make sure everything's good.

Well, scrap that idea. There's a recorded message that basically says that you shouldn't even bother to check before 30 days have passed, that none of the CHL specialists would know if they received your documents before that time.

I just recieved my plastic.Dont drive yourself crazy checking the DPS site everyday (like I did). But maybe try once a week for the first 45 days or so. In the mean time, go to the range, shop for holsters, lasers,or different ammo to keep your self busy. I've been where your going, and the wait can be brutal, but it'l be worth it. Thanks to this site I had a place to vent and hear other stories. This will probably be my last post, since I have already recieved my CHL. Good luck to you all and CARRY RESPONSIBLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :txflag:

I Finished the app online on: May 8th

Got Fingerprinted on: May 12th

Completed Class on: May 17th (put completed documents in mail that day but due to the fact it was a weekend it probably didn't get picked up till monday May 19th)

I check every couple days and I have yet to see any change. It doesn't even say that they have received my documents.

Most never see a status update until the process is pretty much through and you're about to receive your license within a week or so.

CHL Class 5/31/14 Documents E-Mailed 5/31/14

You must be one of those rare cases that got through quickly...they've had all my paperwork, prints, etc since 5/12 and have yet to see an update
