Re: "Waiting Room"
I'd found the phone number of (512) 424-7293 on the DPS website, is that the correct number? I've tried for a few days to reach an agent however everytime I get a recorded message of "due to high call volume our agents are unable to assist you at this time ..." There's gotta be a better way... right? does anyone have an extension I can call?

Re: "Waiting Room"
That is the right number. People have continually tried calling, and some have had luck reaching an actual person. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get someone's direct extension once you reach a person, but getting their direct email address seems to be the norm (if you get someone who will help. It's a crap shoot.)MrJohnsonx3 wrote:I'd found the phone number of (512) 424-7293 on the DPS website, is that the correct number? Re: "Waiting Room"
So I called the number (512) 424-7284 and as soon as it connects press 1, then its going to default to a prerecorded message which hangs up on you.. AS soon as you hear that prerecorded message press 1 again and it will put you on hold to talk to a rep, instead of just hanging up on you. You can even set it up to have them call you when you're first in the queue.BSL-4 wrote:That is the right number. Re: "Waiting Room"
From my experience, since I called and got through 3 different times, my best luck was around 9 or so in the morning or about 4 in the afternoon. Any other time I was told "due to high call volume..." Good luck, y'all.MrJohnsonx3 wrote:I'd found the phone number of (512) 424-7293 on the DPS website, is that the correct number? Re: "Waiting Room"
My packet was sent in in late February. My status was updated this morning to manufacturing pending. 49 days so far.
I can't help but think that calling a few times to check on the status helped speed up my process.

Re: "Waiting Room"
It would be great to have a stickied thread of helpful numbers when contacting the folks in Austin.

Re: "Waiting Room"
4/26 Electronically sent in packet.
4/28 Acknowleged receipt by Austin.
5/2. Advised by instructor that he had entered the wrong instructor number in the form 100.
5/3. Picked up corrected form 100 and electronically sent to Austin.
5/5. Acknowleged reciept by Austin.
6/23 Recieved letter from Austin stating the instructor number on form 100 was not correct.
6/23 Called Austin and spoke to a lady who checked and found the corrected form 100. She stated that the corrected form was indeed received by them on 5/3. She further stated that the the update would be reflected on the check list in two weeks and at that time, I would have my license in 6 to 8 weeks! I stated that I have already been waiting 8 weeks. She said she was aware of that. I thanked her for her time and hung up. It looks like I have been placed back in the bottom of the stack...again.
