March 2014 Applications

#1

Post by owwo »

I think I might have jumped the gun, here's my sequence of events:

2/17 - took CHL class, passed shooting qualification, rec'd signed CHL-100 from instructor.
3/14 - went online to txapps.texas.gov and submitted application online; charged $142 for CHL app fee; registered for fingerprints via FAST and was charged $10.43
3/18 - mailed CHL-100 with Concealed Handgun Application Online Checklist via USPS.
3/24 - fingerprints scheduled to be taken
4/4 - fingerprints mailed in via USPS.

Did I mail-in my chl-100 too early?

That's the order that I did. Now I'm in the March waiting room with you.
Class: March 1. Mailed packet: March 6. Fingerprints: March 11.
It took over a week to get in for fingerprints in my area.

I'm joining in on the waiting fun.
3/15-did class and filled out application online
3/17-did fingerprints and sent forms electronically
3/19-received confirmation of docs received

Now I just wait. I'm just glad the course is over and I passed with flying colors. I keep waiting to find out I did something wrong and my license will be delayed. I think it took my husband about 2 months to get his this time last year. I have heard sending it all in electronically is faster, guess we'll see.

2/28/13 completed CHL training class
2/27/14 completed application online
3/10/14 submitted fingerprints
3/17/14 mailed CHL-100 and documents
3/19/14 tracking shows delivered

Now the wait begins. It took me 364 days from the date I completed the class to when I submitted my application. Waiting another 2 months should be easy. It looks like turn around times are averaging 6 weeks from the January and February "waiting room" threads.

Applied online last week and did the fingerprints. Shot earlier this week and did the classroom this morning. I will mail the paperwork Monday. Is it worth paying for tracking?

I uploaded my documents and emailed them to DPS using their RDS. They will send a confirmation email.

Class taken: 11/10/13
Online Application: 3/3/14
Fingerprints: 3/18/14
CHL-100 uploaded: 3/23/14 (Had to redo because I didn't realize you had to select-UPLOAD-submit until reading this forum, so thanks)

Here's my timeline so far:

2/22/14: Application submitted online, fingerprints scheduled
3/7/14: Fingerprints taken with MorphoTrust/L-1/FAST
3/8/14: CHL class taken
3/8/14: CHL-100, application receipt w/ barcode, and FAST receipt submitted online (and thanks to the guys here, or I wouldn't have known to 'Upload' then 'Submit')
3/9/14: Received email stating docs received by DPS

To date, no changes on my status (still says "License status: Application processed online...")

Now I'm with you guys in the whole waiting game thing.

I did not know you could upload the documents on an initail CHL application. I was under the impression from researching various threads here that you could only upload the documents for renewals. As far as the 6 week turnarround that I stated earlier, that was more of a best case scenario from documents recived to printing status update. I think 2 full months is more accurate for plastic in hand.

You guys may correct me if I'm wrong. But from what I gather, it looked like DPS only allowed uploading of docs through the website for renewals while the passport photo requirement was still in effect, which makes sense to me.

Many applicants (initial and renewal) here on the forum have successfully used RDS to upload and send their docs.
