Re: "Waiting Room"
Submitted electronically Jan 12, 2014 (had all prework done so only needed to upload certificate and checklist)
Status is showing mailed Feb 27, 2014
I havent been checking regularly as they told me it would be 90 days so it could have flipped status earlier. As of maybe two weeks ago there were no status changes. There was simply a paragraph saying my application was processing. Now there is a list of 12 things that it says are complete.
Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received

Application sent 01/17
fingerprints sent 01/21
uploaded docs 01/22
Today - waiting background check. Darn that high clearance I had. Always slows down background checks.

Re: "Waiting Room"
i really wish they actually processed things in order. Its nearly impossible to even guess when you may get your chl. It seems like some who applied and uploaded in Jan are already getting theirs, meanwhile, some who applied in Nov still havent even received an update yet. This is really horrible and more than anything, simply frustrating.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Reading several pages of the waiting room, I see a really extended time to get CHL's into everyone's hands. Read where they actually added some temps to help with the load. I mailed my renewal Jan 17, payment cleared the bank Feb 7, received email on Feb 24 that they have everything and my next update will in 3-4 weeks. Usually renewals are processed within 45 days from that date (Feb 24). Thinking back to how many people got the CHL's some 5 years ago and they are all coming up on renewals right now plus the continuing growth in numbers of people getting their CHLs, how come they just don't expand the department. They are charging fees and that would cover the costs of the CHL, doesn't it? Just thinking, and hoping I have mine quicker than the 45 days from Feb 24.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I have a mental picture in my head of 5 people in cubicles. Each person goes and grabs a stack. 2 of these people take pride in their work and are diligent workers. The other 3 are what many would define as their image of the "typical government employee".rick fortworth wrote:i really wish they actually processed things in order. So if you are lucky enough one of the two hard workers picks up a stack with your app in it. If you aren't lucky one of the other three picks up your app. I'm probably way off but it would account for the lack of consistency in completion timelines.

There are some people who have recently posted renewal turnaround timelines as short as 13 days.rayj8524 wrote:Reading several pages of the waiting room, I see a really extended time to get CHL's into everyone's hands. Re: "Waiting Room"
About 13 days ago a supervisor assured me that our (my and my wife's) October applications were being taken care of. Still nothing; I might have to go jogging with Mr. Perry to get some action on ours!jmra wrote:There are some people who have recently posted renewal turnaround timelines as short as 13 days.

Re: "Waiting Room"
knowing my luck, my package was probably picked up by an employee who threw it in the trash and then pretended their work was already completed so he/she can go home for the day. lol

Re: "Waiting Room"
If you've hit at least 60 days and received no updates via their website, it may be best to give them a call. I called 4 times starting at day 70 when they said they found all my paperwork and would expedite processing. The next call was day 80 where they told me they didn't have my CHL-100 and asked that I fax it over. I called two days later to ask for status because the website still hadn't changed. They said my case was being assigned to an investigator and it may take an additional 60-90 days. Called two more days later just to see if anything changed. Background check completed. Checked the website the following day, license was pending manufacture. Current status is "mailed". Do call.
