Re: December Waiting
So I submitted all of my paper work on December 1, 2013. I did the class Nov. 9th, the application online on the 10th and finger prints a few days later. I used the online submission on December 1st and that was when I had everything turned in. I got an email confirming my submission went through that same day. Then on 1/14/14 I got this email "Thank you for using the Regulatory Services Division’s website.
We have received the necessary information for your CHL application. No further action or documents are required on your part at this time. A specialist will review and process your application. If anything further is missing we will contact you by regular mail. The online status of your application will likely update just before the process completes. This can take up to 8 weeks from when your last documents were submitted.
Please allow staff sufficient time to continue processing your application. For more information on status changes and updates visit http://www.DPS.Texas.gov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or go to the Status Check link.
For security reasons, please do not respond to this email. Should you need further assistance, please return to our web page at Contact Us to securely submit additional inquiries. To help us better serve you please copy and paste any previous messages into the new message.
Regards,"
My status online says: "License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."
I just want to make sure that I haven't forgotten something. It seems people have submitted later than me and already have their plastic! At least an update online would be awesome. I have been following this forum a lot and am just confused why others after me are getting theirs first.
Thanks for the input!

Re: December Waiting
tjcrosson,
As you have so aptly pointed out others have gotten their plastic after us. I can tell you that there seems to be no logical order to their processing of applications. My best suggestion after combing through other posts is to call DPS, whisper sweetly into their ear and if you are lucky and get ahold of a cooperative person they will bump you up.
I received an update after 45 days and thought, WOOHOO! any day now! Well not so fast..... I've been hung up on: Fingerprints and Background under review for 7 days now. I've seen others go from BG under review to mailed in 48 hrs. and less.
So, don't beat yourself silly wondering whats going on in the hive we call DPS. You'll only go loopy trying to figure it out.
Best of luck tjcrosson!

Re: December Waiting
called today. they claim they have received my documents and have not yet begun processing and attaching my documents to my file. the attachment process is what can take 30-90 days. she also said that the process of attachment is what triggers the online update. there was nothing that could be done to speed up the process and they have received a substantial increase in the number of applications starting in November. I pointed out the fact that others that have submitted after me and already received their plastic was an anomaly.
and thus the wait continues...
64 days and counting...

61 days app to plastic. Would have had it yesterday except for the public holiday.

Long time lurker, I guess I'll post my timeline
Packet Mailed to DPS: 12/27
First Update: 02/13
Background Check Pending: 02/14
Manufacture Pending: 02/18
Mailed: Today! 02/19
I guess once the train starts rolling, she gets going quickly! My status changed as of 0800 this morning so I'm hoping it hit the post office today, if that's the case I should see plastic in a day or two! Here's hoping!

Mine shows mailed now as well. I can't remember if I checked last night so I don't know for sure when it changed. The "application: received" is still yellow though, but I assume everything is okay if they mailed it.

It's been 78 days, two phone calls in the last couple weeks, and emailing a specialist the documents straight to her, but it says Manufacturing Pending!
That's a wait..
