No, the instructor does not need to send in anything. Keep in mind DPS is very swamped, It's normal for your status not to change for a long time. They are pretty much entering apps from 1st few days of Oct. Basically, in plain English- your status doesn't change until someone physically touches your CHL-100 & enters the data from it into their computer system. So, for example if some certified mailed or emailed or faxed their docs, it's not gonna change the online status until the manual process happens, which again they're on 1st week of October.

Very helpful, thanks infoman. I suspect this has been discussed to death here but it's sorta hard to search on some of these questions.

Thanks again.

Is that what it shows when you get an update? I turned mine in Oct 21 and got an email about 2 weeks ago saying they just now received my info :banghead:

Yes Sir, that is what it shows, I got my first update at day 36 (submitted everything on 10/9), I have called them a few times as it didn't move at all between 36, and 54… then it moved all the way to mailed in less than 24 hours.

Received by Austin: October 28th

Day 37 I think and no update (not expecting one for a while by the looks of it)

I am officially out of the closet (the closet of creeping and no posting) and joining the club.
I ENCOURAGE ALL OTHER CREEPERS TO JOIN ME! (<-- that was kind of embarrassing but whatever. maybe someone will laugh)

I submitted via mail Oct. 9 and it was delivered Oct. 11. I haven't yet cleared the background. I hope it doesn't take long.

FYI - I mailed my paperwork in October 7th and just got the first status update this morning. It is now at the background check under review status. I was beginning to think my paperwork was lost in the mail. So almost two months for the first update. Hang in there!
