*sigh*

Hang in there... Long time lurker, first time post.

Took Class (Sept 21)
On-line Application completed (Sept 23)
Sent in all paperwork via web-link (Sept 23)
Fingerprints complete (Sept 27)

Then nothing until... (Oct 21) That's 28 days waiting in limbo, since on-line submittal. OK Wait (more like 24 if you subtract the week for the fingerprinting, appointment)

Finally, status updated to "All material received" (Lot's of check-marks)
"Print Pending - completion of background check"

More waiting...

My record is "SQUEEKY" clean. I'm also a veteran, and submitted my DD-214. I don't even have traffic tickets or anything. Excellent credit, college educated, professional license, blah, blah, blah... You get the picture.

I think it's random that some people got lucky, and got theirs processed really quick. I was wondering if the "shut-down" had any effect. Don't think so, but better on-line updating would be appreciated.

Still waiting...

10/15 - Initial Application
10/19 - CHL Class
10/22 - Fingerprints (Transmitted FAST)
10/26 Range Test
On 19 October the range got flooded out. Had to wait till 26 October to complete range portion.

10/26 Upload Documents, keep getting error "Cannot Reach Web Address"

I first entered, then checked, all required information.
Next I browsed to and selected the PDF file with the documentation.
When I clicked "UPLOAD", it processed for a few minutes, then gave a "Cannot Reach Page" error.
I didn't get a chance to click the "SUBMIT" button.

I kind of think it's a DPS site issue. But did I do it wrong?
Should I have clicked "SUBMIT" instead of "UPLOAD" ?
Nope, I tried "SUBMIT" and got same error. :banghead:
I'll keep trying through the weekend.
Hope I don't have to mail my documents in Monday.

So... I'm offically in the waiting boat. I'm so glad i've found all of this helpful information *after* I mailed all of my documents. I pray that the DPS receives my documents! I was one of "those" that didn't make any copies of anything and stuck it in the mail. I know...I know. I'm so regretting that now that I've read about people uploading theirs on the website. Grrr! The website still says waiting on the receipt of materials but from what others have experienced, I shouldn't expect an update anytime soon. I hope it goes by fast!

Well my CHL shows mailed as of this morning so im wearing my bellyband around the house to get use to it.
My process of waiting started sept 16th after sending off all my info to Austin, and yes i checked the damn website daily(every time i got a free minute).
I was supprised it went thru so quickly as i had a assault charge almost 8 years ago and figured i may have to submit a letter of something or another to explain the situation, but i guess the lady at DPS was right when i called before i took the class. She stated that as long as it was defered adjucitated(ms) and more than 5 years im good..
The fiancee sent hers in but figured because she was disabled thru the state she qualified for the discount and recieved a letter saying it wasnt a level at which they accepted the discount so she had to send in the differnce with a money order. Her status changed after 2 weeks of it being sent in origionaly but hasnt changed since.
Mine showed that they were still waiting on the info for over 4 weeks and then one friday last week it changed to recieved and this morning to mailed..woop
We have been looking at all the places we eat at and buy from to see if they have the 30.06 or 51% and have found a few fake signs or the "unliscnesed" possession signs. Hopefully i will get that piece of plastic this week....hopefully

Ok Gurus,
Moved this from CHL checklist, I sent my app in on 9/26/13 return receipt on 9/30/2013. Would not let me file online, said it didn't recognize my DD #. Anyway emailed Austin two weeks ago to see if I could get a Pin # to check on status? No reply so didn't want to piss them off did not follow up with another. They still have not emailed me for finger prints or by snail mail either . I have had my prints done by scan about 3 years ago in Va , also in Tn before that, and regular prints in 98 for Texas CHL now expired. Guess my question is .....should I email them again or what? Thanks for your thoughts in advance! :banghead: Oh yeah is there a way to ck online if you didn't sent them that way? Cant find another way to register on the DPS site........................

10-3-2013 :Austin received all my paperwork(USPS confirmation only)
10-31-2013: still no status change(waiting on paperwork)

This is giving me time to train 1-2 times a week and practice wearing my holster. I am having to buy new pants to accommodate my IWB holster.
For those who are still waiting I would recommend going to U Tube and watching the show "Stop the Threat" . It is made up of a panel of
self defense experts who give opinions on reenactments of actual cases were CHL holders had to use their weapons. Many cases happened in Texas.

Thanks for that! I will definitely watch some videos. I had a weird situation this weekend where I wished I had my plastic...it would of made me more comfy if this creeper decided to do something. I think me spotting him early, his body language, and just his overall action was NOT normal. He was walking towards my car with a "I'm gonna kill you" look on his face then he would randomly stop and keep looking at me... Then he eventually started walking far away to the side and I thought he was going to try to come to my car from behind. I made it very obvious I was watching him. He eventually disappeared. I don't know if I'm now paranoid or he was a legit would of been threat. This was at like 3am on a Saturday night. From his point of view, young girl by herself in a new camaro waiting on food to be brought out to the car in a not well lit drive thru and distracted by phone... And by distracted, I was getting my phone ready to dial 911. lol

Still waiting on my status to change from awaiting receipt of required materials...

I know that since I have taken the CHL course that my Situational Awareness Skills have improved. So glad he did not try to harm you!

Hope you are working on your carry method and practicing your draw and shoot. My goal is to draw gun and fire 2 shots in a playing card in 2 seconds at 20 feet. Got that tip from Guns and Ammo magazine online. I hope to never have to use that skill or even have to draw gun but you never know.

I'm a recent refugee from CA. I submitted my package online and was received on 7/23/2013 and I am still waiting on BG check, etc. Waiting a long time in TX is better than a NEVER in CA!!!!!

A watched pot never boils is true but I looked just to make sure the fire was on under mine. All of my docs, cert, prints etc. were received by DPS on 9/16/13(confirmed by someone at DPS) Spoke to DPS again today and was told we have all of your material it just hasn't been entered into the system yet. It's been 45 day and not even processing yet?! :cryin must have accidentally gone to the Obama care website :waiting:

I haven't been practicing my carry method yet but I'm going to start off with a carryover messenger bag/purse. It's very small and will be over my shoulder and hang down by hip. I just ordered my holster this week! I got a kydex trigger guard with a paracord to go around the bag strap so if the gun leaves my purse, it catches on the bag strap and the holster comes off itself. I know purse carry is frowned upon but I will eventually switch to on body once I'm comfortable with carrying and find what works for me. I'm going to the range tomorrow to practice :) I was a first time shooter when I took my CHL and I haven't been since but I plan on going a few times a week to get more experience under my belt! Before anyone says anything about getting my CHL without even touching a gun before.... I scored the highest at 241 with being the only female in my class. Lol! I had a great teacher though. I still can't load a magazine without a loader... Ugh. I hope it's because mine are new and the springs aren't worn in yet!!
