6-5-13 Completed online application
6-22-13 Completed CHL Class
6-24-13 mailed in remaining documents
6-26-13 DPS confirms receiving documents
7-8-13 status changes to pending fingerprints and background check
8-26-13 I call the DPS to ask why my status has not changed in almost 2 months. She tells me they are still doing the background check.
9-2-13 status changes to fingerprints complete/background check complete and License Manufacturing.

How long will it be on manufacturing? does anyone know?

My dad went with me and got his back in about a month.

I checked the CHL site this morning and both mine and my wife's background checks show complete and the licenses are in manufacturing. So from September 3rd when I mailed the paperwork to today is only 16 days, not too shabby.

Online renewal receipt was processed on 7/29/13.

Fingerprints and Background Check still pending.

So much for the decrease in waiting times. :mad5

I input my application online yesterday, 10/15/2013

I guess that puts me officially in the "Waiting Room".

Class is Saturday 10/19/2013
Upload Documents same day.
Fingerprints Tuesday 10/22/2013

Then the waiting starts.

DPS is processing applications pretty efficiently right now. Just hang in there and you will get your plastic before you know it.

So I stumbled onto this forum while trying to determine how long I could expect to wait on my Tx CHL. By the looks of the comments maybe I might expect some news in the next couple of weeks.

9/28/13 Completed class with wife
10/2/13 Submitted online applications
10/3/13 Fingerprinted
10/4/13 Submitted all documentation via USPS Priority Mail

The website still shows:
License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page

So it's been about two & a half weeks. I've noticed some folks have experienced some remarkable turn arounds. That's great. I suspect maybe since September was the first month of shortened classes maybe they experienced a spike in applications, which is great. More people should carry! We'll keep our fingers crossed that we can get ours finalized in the next 4-6 weeks.
