New member, finished class today
Hi all, new member to the forums. A coworker and I and his girlfriend all completed our CHL class today. Passed everything with flying colors and I will be mailing off my packet Monday. I had been a little concerned about the background check because of an arrest back in 2006 for driving with a suspended license, but its been cleared up and taken care of , so I think I am ok there. Anyway, hope to have my license soon. I have a question, I read somewhere on this forum that since i had an arrest, that I would need to get the records from the arresting agency and send them in with my packet. Is this true ? I mean the DPS already knows about it in their database (I paid the $4 for the public records search on myself).

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your class completion. I will leave your legal questions to others here more qualified, but I would be more concerned with the underlying cause of the suspension.

Thanks. The underlying cause was for no insurance. We had a rough few years financially, kid was sick with a chronic illness, lost house to foreclosure because of compounding medical bills etc.. Insurance had lapsed and I got caught. Not trying to pass it off as no big thing because any offense is serious, but none of it was for anything violent or drug or alcohol related or anything like that.

Welcome to the forum.
You need to be sure to list the arrest on your application. It is also best if you can provide a copy of the final disposition from the court clerk where the case was finalized. This will help speed things along with your application. Failure to list it would be falsification of a document and they can deny your license and possibly charge you with falsification of a government document as well.

Its definitely listed, I just wasn't sure about the papers from the court.. I did not send those in..mailed my packet today so I guess we will see how it goes. I am sure they will tell me if they need additional documentation.Keith B wrote:Welcome to the forum.

They will. If they send you a letter indicating they are needed don't waste any time in getting the document back as you only have 90 days to get them the required info or they can cancel your application.unsainted wrote:

11 days and counting since I mailed my packet, no update on the website to say they have received the paperwork. I dont know which is worse, waiting for this or waiting for my new VZ Grips to arrive that have been on backorder for a month lol.

Just because it says mailed, it does not mean it is actually mailed. It means it is put in the basket to go to the mail room which happens once or twice a week.unsainted wrote:Update: Mailed on Friday 08/16/2013 and 4 days later i still dont have it.. I would think mail anywhere in TX is 2-3 days
