August Applications
Hi there, I am new poster and long time reader. Thanks for all the good information across all the boards.
I submitted my CHL-100 and Checklist today here (https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and am doing my fingerprints tomorrow afternoon.
I will update this as more information is available

Re: August Applications
Welcome aboard. I think it's a wise move to beat the September rush. Also, if you haven't already, it's not too soon to order a holster and start carrying around the house to find out what works best for you.
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.

Re: August Applications
Thanks for the welcome!
It seems like the apps are being processed pretty fast these days but I was thinking that it was going to get clogged up in Sept.
I have a tactical shirt for work carry with my shirt tucked in and an IWB for more casual days. I am pretty sure my wife is tired of me changing clothes and asking "Can you see my gun now?"

Re: August Applications
Well, step 1 is complete. The status page was updated today to show that my fingerprints and background check are under review. :)
Re: August Applications
Heh - while I was still waiting for mine to arrive, and carrying around the house - my wife finally told me "Stop asking, I will tell you if I notice". :)ntxengineer wrote:I am pretty sure my wife is tired of me changing clothes and asking "Can you see my gun now?"
You can have an attitude
or you can carry a gun
but you can't do both

Re: August Applications
Usually takes from month to 3 months depending on how busy they are.
Re: August Applications
Oh another thing your application status won't change until they send out your CHL, so it'll say application received and waiting for checklist items to be received all the way up until they send your CHL out, then you will get status change to CHL is in the mail or something like that

Re: August Applications
The September rush refers to the changes in the law that are going to happen sept, 1st. The required class time is being cut in half and classes will no longer be required for your first renewal.Texsquatch wrote:What's the September rush?gringo pistolero wrote:Welcome aboard. So there will be a large increase in applications happening then.
I find it ironic that most of the people who say we should outlaw guns to make gun crime go down...
are the same people who say we should legalize drugs to make drug crime go down.

Re: August Applications
08/02 - CHL Application / Affidavit / Fee
08/03 - CHL Class Complete
08/04 - All paperwork submitted online
08/04 to 08/09 - Wondering when work is going to stop me from checking the status every hour
08/09 - Status page is updated to show Background Check Pending
08/09 to 08/15 - Repeat the waiting game. Feeling a little foolish reading how long some have been waiting and starting to expect the 30+ day wait. (Didn't stop me from checking a couple times a day)
08/15 - Everything is complete and the status page shows Manufacture Pending.
Does anyone have any experience with how long the wait will be now?

Mailed everything in on August 5th. License being mailed today. I'll have a 14 turnaround time, which is amazing!
