**CHL class: 07/24/13 and 07/25/13
**Online app completed: 07/26/13
**Fingerprint: 07/29/13

**Application Mailed: 07/30/13 (Joined TXCHLFORUM 07/24/13 and not reading "CHL checklist - Be sure to verify these items before mailing your CHL App!" - and shoulda mailed USPS Priority and not just regular and now :waiting: (08/06/13) :banghead: :banghead: wondering why app hasn't been received and showing status online)

**Finally Status showing online: 08/07/14 - pndng Citizenship certificate, pndng background check.
**Emailed Citizenship cert: 08/10/13
**Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending 08/14/13 :woohoo

The wait sure was driving me crazy with what "IFs" questions> I am just glad and relieved that it's in the manufacturing process now. If I had to do it over again I would' definitely email my app instead of snailmaling it. Emailing will absolutely show a status of change/receive within 2 days. I'll post with the dancing banana as soon as I receive my license. Goodluck to everyone!

Actually, we did the email for my wife and it has taken 28 days to get any type of update, but once it was updated it is at CHL:manufacturing pending

That is crazy that it took that long to show a status. Now you can't really pin point what caused the delay, but am sure y'all are glad with the manufacturing status. :cheers2: Hopefully more people will chime in who emailed app and then we can see and compare.

Background check: Complete
CHL: Manufacturing Pending
That was pretty quick - background check took only one week!
:clapping:

My VA CHP is valid in TX until it's expiration (summer 2017) under a reciprocity agreement, but I figured I'd rather get a local license to avoid any misunderstandings.

Here is my timeline:
- 07/20/13 - Completed online application
- 07/24/13 - Fingerprints
- 07/26/13 - CHL class
- 07/26/13 - Mailed out documents - Wait begins
- 07/29/13 - Mail package received per USPS tracking system
- 08/06/13 - Application received per DPS system, Background check under review
- 08/14/13 - Background check complete, Manufacturing pending.

We'll see how long this takes - it looks like processing times vary greatly. My background is chrystal clear - not even a parking ticket - and I have a current VA CHP so you'd think it should be reasonably quick. But then I'm a Naturalized Citizen and was born and raised in the former Soviet Union, so it may delay things a bit...with me being an ex-commie and all...

I can't wait! :hurry:

I emailed all of my stuff and it has been 29 days with no update. I thought email would get a faster update than using USPS but I think I've proven that to be a myth.

My background for the last 5 yrs has been the same, work and address has been the same, so I'm guessing it is that. My co-worker and I filed almost the same time but he has changed addresses and work many times during the last 5 yrs. Well see if that will play a factor or it is just the person working behind the desk.

Same Here.... I bought and moved into a house 6 years ago. Before that, a bunch of moves, but overall very stable for the last 11 years (all in same county/town) I will check again at the end of the work day today but I am not getting my hopes up yet. :grumble

I highly doubt this matters. I just moved from Virginia 2 months ago and already moved once since I came to TX. Back in VA I moved twice in the past 7 years after moving to the US from abroad. Plus, in these 7 years I went throught the entire immigration process and immigration status changed from non-resident alien to a resident alien (Green Card holder) and then to a US Citizen. All kinds of places to check background from and it only took 8 days from "Background check under review" to "Background check complete".

That being said, my background is clean and I've held a VA Concealed handgun permit since 2007 which is still valid, so it might have simplified it. From what I understand, the background check is done through the FBI, not local authorities - so in theory it shouldn't matter how many places in the US you have lived in and for how long.

As for my history prior to coming to the US, in order to get a Green Card I had to provide a police certificate from every locality worldwide I've ever lived in for longer than 6 months, stating that I have never been convicted of any crimes. I'd imagine that once this background requirement is satisfied for immigration purposes, it's probably sufficent for FBI as well.
