Received a letter stating my application was not completed. I filled out the forum and mailed it on Tuesday 8/6/13 and I received my CHL today, Wednesday 8/7/12. :headscratch

I am not complaining.

Recently moved to Texas from Virginia, have had VA Concealed Handgun Permit since summer 2007 and been carrying ever since. New to Texas but not new to concealed carrying.

My VA CHP is valid in TX until it's expiration (summer 2017) under a reciprocity agreement, but I figured I'd rather get a local license to avoid any misunderstandings.

Here is my timeline:
- 07/20/13 - Completed online application
- 07/24/13 - Fingerprints
- 07/26/13 - CHL class
- 07/26/13 - Mailed out documents - Wait begins
- 07/29/13 - Mail package received per USPS tracking system
- 08/06/13 - Application received per DPS system, Background check under review

We'll see how long this takes - it looks like processing times vary greatly. My background is chrystal clear - not even a parking ticket - and I have a current VA CHP so you'd think it should be reasonably quick. But then I'm a Naturalized Citizen and was born and raised in the former Soviet Union, so it may delay things a bit...with me being an ex-commie and all...

Best of luck I think most background checks are done within 2 weeks :txflag:

July 21st: Started online application.

July 22nd: Mailed USPS Express (one day guaranteed)

July 23rd: Fingerprints/Tracking says it has been delivered

August 2nd: Documents received/Backround check under review

It's been in "background check under review" since last Friday, the 2nd, and still no change. I was really hoping that it would be done as quickly as some of the applications at the beginning of this month (1-2 days) and that it would be mailed and possibly in hand this week. I guess now the earliest I can hope for is mailed tomorrow and in hand Saturday or Monday. I guess it's better than my father's application which took close to 60 days when he submitted it back in March. Now I just need to get a new belt, some more carry ammo, and a mag pouch to be completely set for when it finally does get here. Buying more shirts tomorrow that conceal better for work since most of the ones I have are too small even if I wasn't going to be carrying.

Prints done and all documents emailed July 16
Still shows waiting on documents August 10.

Kinda hurts seeing so many people with updates or even getting their license who submitted later than me.

I'm with you GigEm1225!

I submitted all my documents on July 4.
Received July 9.
Now, August 13 still in Background Check.

Yes I called, I got told, "It's in review. It could take up to 30 more days. Thanks for calling." :grumble

Same issue with my wife's, but she submitted hers via email. No status change. They wont even talk to her until it has been 30 days from sent.

I got told the same thing when I called, so I'll be calling back first thing Thursday morning on the 30th day. Is there any reason DPS is so inconsistent in processing these?

I swore some of the first posts I read in this July thread said they had been only taking a few days. Good to know I'm not the only one who's still waiting. Still no change as of today. I was hoping maybe they had already mailed it and just not updated the status and I would find it in the mail. Hopefully it changes before this weekend. *fingers crossed*
