Mailed on June 4
Delivered to Austin by USPS on June 6
First update online (Background Check: Under Review) June 22

........AND NO CHANGE SINCE!!!

I am seeing tons of people send out there paperwork way after me and receive their CHL in less than a month.

Is anyone else still having to wait like me?

Mine is still showing both fingerprints under review and background check under review. It's only been 7 days since it updated to that, though.

I'm trying to remain patient. i do have an arrest from 2006 in my reported history so I'm assuming that may cause a delay, even though I included the disposition paperwork with my application materials.

Does anyone know what they do to conduct the background check? I was assuming they just ran your name and prints through a government database or something, and that it was a fairly quick process.

I have one speeding ticket on my record, but nothing else. Ive passed 2 federal background checks in the last 6 years. There is absolutely no reason it would be held up.

I am vaguely wondering if geographic location (what county you're in, or something like that) has any effect.

I ran a stop light in Las Vegas in '95 or '96-ish, (maybe '94?) and was ticketed for it (I wasn't paying enough attention, basically, it was one of those curves where there's warning lights before the curve for the traffic light after the curve). Immediately paid the fine by mail.

Other than that, never arrested, only fingerprinted for military service and the CHL app, have lived at the same address and worked at the same place for over five years. I am, background-wise, essentially boring, the only way I'd expect my background check to slow things up is if it put the reviewing trooper to sleep.

We'll see how it goes.

Just be prepared.... mine has said that since June 22. It might be a wait still.

I mailed my application in the third week of June, and as of today, the website said they're still waiting to receive my packet. I didn't mail it with receipt confirmation. Now I'm wishing I had. Should I be freaking out that it's lost?

Schwarf - early in the week or late in the week?

I live pretty close to Austin (I could have reasonably gone and put it in the drop box rather than mailing it) and I mailed mine on the 18th - got my first update on Saturday. If you mailed later than i did and/or delivery time might be longer, I think that you probably have nothing to worry about, and they may just say you're supposed to wait 30 days from when they should have gotten it if you do call.

Anomie,

Around the middle/end of the week, if I remember. I mailed it from San Antonio. I'll just have to give it more time, I guess.

Got mine today. Mailed to DPS on 6/10. Not too bad!!

Think I'll pass on the whole "Wally walk" thing. Way to silly. Kinda reminds me . . . . hey, now that I think about it, some of my Christmas lights are burned out. Maybe I better run to Walmart to replace them and before they run out.
