Under review for weeks....now what?

#1

Post by Bethstang »

Hi,
My status has said background check under review for 4 weeks. I have called once, 2 weeks ago and the chl representative said at that time, this is normal waiting time. I do have a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge from 1994 that was dismissed that I sent court disposition papers with my application. Should I call again or just continue to wait.

Thanks,
Beth

Welcome to the forum :txflag: I would give them another call but I have been watching the waiting room since long before I got my plastic. I have seen BG done in a few days to months. Mine took 5 days, so Its really hard to say as there is not a pattern on how long BG's take.
Also it does not do any good to check the dps site more than once a day. It updates 7 days a week at 6am. my manufacturing update happpened on a Saturday and Mailed on was on a Sunday. 62 days total for me. :txflag:

As Gunner said, the background check times can be all over the place. I wouldn't worry too much about it yet, as long as the phone reps tell you that you are still in the normal time frame.

The reason why I thinks its strange is that my husband and sister already have their license and all our apps were sent in at the same time

I've read it depends on what county you've lived in and its size for your bg and the FBI check. There are many posts on this subject.

I think there are a lot of different variables that determin how long a background check takes. I've lived in the same small county all my life, and my check took longer than most that sent in around the time I did.

Did they have an arrest record?
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.
