I mailed my packet in 04/02. Background check is still pending .... I wonder if it's because I've been on a gun shopping spree since Christmas ... so the FBI has black listed me.

armanius, you and I are identical with regard to date mailed and background check still pending. We are also identical with regard to "a gun shopping spree since Christmas" (actually, my spree started in -ahem- the second week of November), and, although I think the FBI is prohibited from keeping records on background checks for gun purchases, this delay has made me wonder.

Apr 02 - Required docs delivered per USPS.
May 08 - Status updated to received, BG pending.
May 29 - Fingerprints & BG completed, updated to Manufacturing Pending.
May 30 - Updated to mailed.

So should be in-hand sometime next week.

From what I've been told, if someone purchases 2 handguns from the same dealer with a week - a form is sent to ATF flagging the purchaser - what happens after that I have no idea..

Same thing if you buy 2 semi automatic long guns grater than 22 caliber and with a removable magazine. It is actually 2 in 5 days I think is the criteria for mailing the form to the national tracing center and local law enforcement. Now the handgun thing is anywhere in the country I believe, the long gun is only recorded of you live in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, or California.

Oh boy ... I did buy an used gun from a LGS, returned it the next day, and bought another one. Two background checks were performed in the span of two days at the same LGS.

Then about a month or so later, I bought another gun at a different LGS. This second LGS told me that there was a delay during the background check process due to something they didn't tell me about. But eventually everything checked out, and they sold me the gun. I wonder if this had anything to do with "flagging."

On the other hand, two weeks later, I bought another gun at an Academy, and the background check went without any hitches.

I wonder if I need to be calling DPS to see what the hold up is ...

After holding for 25 minutes, I did get to speak to a nice lady named Rebecca at the DPS CHL department, who told me that everything looks fine in my application, and that I'm still within the "normal" handling period of 60 days.

They received my paperwork on 04/10/2013, but I'm still in the background check "under review" stage. It seems like a number of folks who submitted their paperwork after me already got their CHL's. I asked her about it, and she couldn't tell me why. She just kept saying that my process should be completed soon, because 06/10/2013 is coming up, and 06/10/2013 will make two months since they got my paperwork.

This is disconcerting as it appears that the wait time is about 30 days now from the time DPS receives all the paperwork.

I hope I'm just being paranoid ...

I helped a friend send her paperwork in electronically on 4/19.

Got the Auto-generated response email.

She got another email from them on 5/10 stating her paperwork had been received and sent over to processing.

However, update page still sits with no status update and no change, just says Processed online, waiting for materials.

Hello- I've been reading through everything and wanted to post a time frame response.
I mailed paperwork for myself and my husband off on 4/26. His updated to "Mailed" on the 28th. Mine updated to "Mailed" today (5/31) So we are at 5 weeks. We should have ours by next week if he doesn't get his Saturday. I don't know when they actually drop them in the mail.

And I have purchased 2 guns from a dealer in a week's time. The most recent was the week of mailing my paperwork off.

When you look at some of the timelines, it makes no sense. Sometimes timelines add up and other times things just are out of whack. People sending off at end of April are being mailed, but beginning of April or even March applicants still waiting. Oh well, it is what it is, but you would think there would be a system that gets it somewhat in order.
