03/16: CHL training class and proficiency exam.
03/17: Online Applications completed and fee paid.
04/02: Fingerprinting.
04/02: All materials mailed.
04/04: USPS delivery confirmation.
05/11: Status upgraded to reflect receipt of materials; background review pending.

I would think by now a phone call or email inquiry would be warranted. Especially where it seems to be moving along fairly quickly after the first posted update.

Status updated today to reflect fingerprints & background check completed and manufacturing pending:

Feb 19 - Completed online app.
Mar 01 - Fingerprints done.
Mar 29 - CHL class completed.
Mar 30 - All required docs mailed.
Apr 02 - Required docs delivered per USPS.
May 08 - Status updated to received, BG pending.
May 29 - Fingerprints & BG completed, updated to Manufacturing Pending.

I'm hoping to get "another" UPDATE tomorrow , as mine changed last week to fingerprints and BG under review

I suspect the next update won't be until Wednesday. I would be surprised if anyone worked today.

I don't understand how some that sent their stuff after me has already received their CHL already and mine is still under review. I have never had as so much as a speeding ticket. It should be a no brainer. My stuff was received by DPS on 4/3. Still under review. Maybe soon. I hope.

From what I've seen in this forum there are a variety of factors involved - if you've moved a few times, maybe switched jobs, etc so it's not necessarily a clean record = quick background check sort of thing. And you gotta figure that, like any other job, some processors are just going to be better and more efficient at their job than others so there definitely is a 'luck of the draw' factor to be considered.

They do seem to be getting through the early April deliveries in the last few days so hopefully yours will update soon.

Yea, it must be who is working on it. They maybe called in sick or on vacation. You never know. I have been at the same job for over 17 yrs. and same residence for 16 yrs. I would almost think my application would fly through or at least as fast as possible. You do have a good point that we don't know the circumstances of who is working on it.

I'm curious if the recent apps are being processed by the newbies that haven't been "instituionalized" yet and are working their butt off while older apps are sitting in some "lifer's" pile of to-dos..

Happy for you, but frustrating for me. I mailed my packet in 04/02. Background check is still pending .... I wonder if it's because I've been on a gun shopping spree since Christmas ... so the FBI has black listed me.

New here and getting a little impatient like maybe some others. I am kinda confused on how long the background check takes. I have basically never been in trouble and it seems it is taking forever. It takes less than 2 seconds to clear every time I buy a gun and I even got a TWIC card in less than 3 business days. Can't wait to see the update.

Paid for BG check and processing online next day
fingerprint appointment not until 4/5
Mailed info on 4/8
updated to bg check under review on 5/10

still under review today.
