I was beside myself. I'm glad I dont have to take it out of my holster when I leave my house anymore, unless I go in somewhere where its restricted. :rock"

My first update was on 5/8 after mailing on 3/36 that BG was in process. One week later, BG completed and now to Manufacturing. :hurry:

This is my first post:

2/9/13 CHL class (1st time taking class)
3/4/13 Fingerprinted (there was more than 2 week wait for next available date fingerprint date after class)
3/6/13 Mailed all paperwork to DPS

Online "site will be updated when required paperwok has been received and processing has begun" until...

4/29/13 website finally updated. "Application received, background check in progress"
5/15/13 "background check completed, manufacturing licence" (15 days after initial update)
5/16/13 "licence mailed"

71 days from date I mailed paperwork until website said "licence mailed". Should be here in a few days.

Of note, before initial update on 4/29/13 I was actually able to talk to someone at DPS. Really friendly lady, said there was a record 17,000 applicants for Texas CHL's. She said to allow a minimum 60 days for site to be updated. Coincidentally my info on the site was updated within days of talking to her. Also sent e-mail requesting info on how much longer background check would be. site was updated 2 days later stating BG check completed.

I called today at 445 and someone picked up the phone right away.
I sent in packet on 3-21 and they don't show anything yet, said to wait another few weeks.
I sent an instructors packet a week later and it updated on 4-18 to BG underway.

The nice guy told me they have hired additional people and they are working early am and late pm shifts to process apps.

I think when you contact them if helps get your name noticed and possibly getting it processed. I called last week and faxed them my paper work, after 2 days I got an update. We have to hang in there. :thumbs2:
