Well, my wife and I are both very happy this morning! After a seemingly interminable wait (just like everyone else here in the forum), the status of both of our CHL applications has finally been upgraded from "pending receipt of documents" to awaiting the background review. It has taken five weeks and two days (in other words, 37 days) to process the application to this point, from the date the materials were received in Austin (April 4) to the day our online statuses were upgraded (May 11):

03/16: CHL training class and proficiency exam.
03/17: Online Applications completed and fee paid.
04/02: Fingerprinting.
04/02: All materials mailed.
04/04: USPS delivery confirmation.
05/11: Status upgraded to reflect receipt of materials; background review pending.

Hello from Houston everyone! :tiphat:
This is my first post. I am excited to be joining you in this waiting game. Let me tell you, it has been excruciating. As you can see in my signature, my journey began back in March. I knew this would be a waiting game then but I didn’t think time would just creep by the way it has.
Little bit about myself…
My name is Leighan. I was born in San Antonio and I am a working mumma to 6 gorgeous little Texans. :txflag:
I have an even split of boys and girls with ages ranging from 4 to 20 years old. I, of course, was only 10 when I had my first….hehehe jk.
I work in the Greenspoint area of Houston, Texas. Greenspoint is affectionately known in these parts as “GunsPoint”. The first week I worked for this company, the body of a young African-American woman was found in an adjacent parking lot, carefully rolled in a carpet. I am trying to get another job so I am currently working on a Master’s degree in education and hope to have my teaching certification by summer 2014.
I never thought that I would be interested in guns or shooting but due to our current political climate, I have had to reevaluate my opinions on these matters. I am definitely a conservative and am personally offended by the fact that the current administration considers the Constitution, like the Holy Bible to be outdated and due for revision.
I could go on and on. :bigmouth
Right now I have two Sig Sauer guns, P238 .380 cal and a 2022, 9mm. I plan to carry my weapon as often as the law allows. I realize when I begin teaching this will not be an option on the job unless I have a job in one of the school districts where this is allowed. At this time, I carry in my car 100 percent of the time. I am really wanting to get a Ruger LCP with a Crimson Trace laser but that will have to wait.
I really look forward to getting to know everyone!

Welcome 2ndAmendmentMumma! :cheers2:

Mine arrived just a couple days before yours and updated last week so hopefully yours will soon. Now waiting to see how long background takes... and my fingerprints are 'under review' so I hope that company we're required to use didn't mess something up!

I work pretty close to you (other side of IAH), be careful there. Many incidents at "Gunspoint" in the 12 years I've worked in the area... But if you like sushi, Ichiban is the best in the area, worth the risk.
