Took my class and completed application February 16th. Got fingerprinted, and mailed in the CHL 100 & 6 March 12 (First appointment I could get with Morpho which is two hours away). Return receipt says they got to Austin March 15. No update on website through this morning. Called DPS, and talked to the amazing Dan everyone is so high on. Yep, they have my docs.....in the mailroom :mad5 ! When might I hope to see that they have actually been entered? Better give it another month :banghead: And how long to actually get the license? With all the apps they are processing, two more months at least. Unfortunately, there is no emoticon for a man jumping off a tall building. Hopefully I will actually get my license before it expires. I understand budgets, I understand high volumes of applications, but seriously! 4 months to handle an application? And we're paying good money for this! Give me one good reason the DPS couldn't handle this the same way they issue a DL. Are the people in Austin really that specially qualified. If you can't tell by now, todays call left me feeling a little frustrated. :waiting:

I tell you what I have learned so far, DPS customer service has no idea when your app will be complete. There is also no logic in how they handle applications, I know for a fact its not first come first serve.

Back in 96 when I got mine, there was no computer to apply on-line with or to check the progress thereof. You had a packet with all the required doc's. You completed the training, sent in your package and then, YOU LEARNED TO WAIT. Like today, time would go by at a crawl. Then one day you would come home and lo and behold, your CHL was in the mailbox!!

Today, it's a piece of cake. Patience is a virtue. Learn it if you are gonna be packin..

Fear not I think they are giving you the company line, ie "don't bug me." They tell you months then you are happy when it is not :thewave . It seems to be taking about 6-7 weeks for an update, and move faster after that.

I was at more than 45 days since they signed for my packet before I saw any updates. That's just how long it is taking them to deal with the huge volume of applications.

Getting dissapointed and worried. It's been 43 days since thet recieved all my paperwork and fingerprints and still no change on their site. Still says waiting on the rest of my documentation. Looks like the rest of you who sent in March paperwork have been getting updates..

Does anyone know when the updates are loaded? are they loaded throughout the day, or just in the mornings? Just curious when I should be checking for them? Thanks.

6am is when the system updates, no point in checking more than once per day.
