I went into background check on Feb 14 and just flipped to "manufacturing pending" yesterday, March 10, so I would predict yours will change in a day or two or with the "Sunday Batch"

You were absolutely correct. Just checked and it updated to background complete. Now at manufacture pending. I'm working a night shift and was checking this morning and about 5:15 this morning it updated.

I mailed everything off certified mail return receipt requested on January 2, 2013. The return receipt was stamped as received on January 3, 2013 and I received the receipt back by the 5th of January. My status did not change online until January 23, 2013.

I got a bang on my status because the instructor did not fill out the hours from the proficiency training in the box. He marked it as passed and selected the SA category, but with the hours not dilled in DPS is sending me a letter. I am also under review for the photographs. I had gone to Walgreens and I told the lady that I did not think they would be accepted. She assured me that they would. "We do this all the time", she told me "Trust me".

I contacted my instructor and asked that he meet me to get this potion filled out. Luckily I made copies of everything I sent in so that I am not sitting here trying to guess what they are picking at. I have not actually gotten my letter from DPS in the mail, but I want to have everything ready to send off as soon as I do. I am going to include photos and a letter just in case so that the process does not get delayed further.

Due to my work schedule I hired an instructor to teach me 1 on 1 so that I could take longer breaks to return calls if needed or call it a day if I had to deal with a client's matter. This small oversight is not really a big deal in the scheme of things. I paid $300 for the private class. My hours were not reduced OF COURSE!!! however I did get to spend extra time with a very experienced instructor who like myself is an Eagle Scout. I think that I got my money's worth and then some! 98% on the written and 97.2% on the range... it was about my schedule.

I called DPS on 3/6/13 and inquired about the 60 day mark being passed. Because my Training form was not complete the 60 day mark started on 2/6/13. Complete applications only is what I was told. The clock only starts ticking once you get everything in and it is accepted. First day to carry was today.

I would like to know what the process of the "background check" is. I had a top secret clearance in the Air Force, have NEVER been arrested, passed several background checks for various reasons over the years, lived in current county for over 8 years and in Texas my whole life minus the years in the military. Why is it taking so long for this one. It wouldn't bother me so much if it were not some already recieving theirs that applied AFTER me!

I too had a Top Secret clearance. But I have only lived in Texas three years. I hope the delay for me is that they are awaiting info from South Carolina my previous state.

Hopefully yours updates soon. I too have only been in Texas about 3 years. I was in North Carolina before. I have seen quite a few posts here where people with top secret clearances have taken a while in background check. I hope you get good news soon.

I had secret recently for a contract I was on. Took them about two weeks to complete that. My guess is that TXDPS's CHL staff is not prepared to handle big spikes like the one we are in now. (Thanks again Mr. President!)

I applied online and got everything in with fingerprints on January 24th. I didn't go to background until March 1st, and then I also got the dreaded "fingerprints under review" stigma. It's not budged in two weeks.

I keeping picturing some near-sighted Magoo with a Smokey Bear hat looking at my print's upside down.

I understand the increase in apps. lately, but my issue is why some people that applied after me are already getting plastic while I'm stuck in "background review" land for no reason. Is it the county I live in, the desk my app ended up on or what? I planned on a long wait for the entire process, but its frustrating to see others "jumping" ahead of me. (Good for them, bad for me). I think it helps a lttle for me to vent right now.
