Welcome. I'd suggest you sit back and relax and not check your status at DPS for 45 days to prevent psychosis and rage but i'm sure you'll follow that just about as well as the rest of us did.

A few tips:
DPS will not show the application received for 3 weeks. That's just how it is
The background check normally takes 2-3 weeks after they show it received. You may get lucky and get it done quicker.
After that, it's pretty quick. You'll go from manufacturing to mailed in 2 days. From there expect another week or two.

Use this time investigate gear and practice at the range. Get used to carrying your firearm in the car with you. That will help you feel used to carrying everywhere.
